Submitted my applicated ED a couple weeks ago! I got an email saying to expect a status checker in the next few weeks but that's it. I don't think anybody got decisions until early-mid November last year, so I guess we'll all be waiting for a while :/

Does anybody know any statistics for splitters applying to Michigan ED??

In many cases, schools allocate little or even no financial aid grants for students admitted via binding early decision programs. At Michigan Law, we most decidedly do not do that; we provide both merit- and need-based grants to early-decision admittees on the exact same terms as we do to those admitted under regular-decision programs. I am queasy at the idea of locking people in through a binding program and then not providing them with the aid made available to others.

She also, however, discourages students from applying ED unless they are absolutely sure that School X is their first choice.

Anyway, an interesting read, thought you all might like to take a look.

Right with you all on the UMich EDing. Nothing but best wishes to you all. Confidence not high. I'm a UofM undergrad and I find myself meandering through the law quad daydreaming almost daily about what it would be like to go there.

Hope to be living in the Lawyers Club with you all in July.

Urgh I think no. Part of me really wants to, but most of me is aware that it's not really the wisest choice.

I haven't submitted yet because I am still working on my Why Mich essay. This week!

Any threads on how starting in the summer impacts employment?
I really want to go into enviro law, & just read that U Mich is prolly a better bet for PI than UVA, so I may join you.
3.5X... anyone know what LSAT along with that would be a lock? Is there even a lock? With UVA it's def 170, but here I might squeak by with a 169???

They may decide they can get away with a hard cutoff of 3.56 or sumpin' this year.

Actually, Michigan already bumped up their numbers for the most recent cycle, making it slightly tougher for splitters and reverse splitters.

2010:
3.57 / 3.73 / 3.85
168 / 169 / 171

2009:
3.55 / 3.70 / 3.84
167 / 169 / 170

How big of a boost does applying ED give? I checked lawschoolnumbers, but the sample size seemed too small to get a good read on it. i'm 3.82/167 with average softs...would I have any chance with these numbers?

I know that a 3.7?/168 did not make it last year ED.

Yeah, I wanted to see if anyone with my numbers got $$ ED last year...except no one with my numbers applied ED last year (or at least if they did, they didn't LSN about it).

Yea, lawschoolnumbers does allow you to search for ED applicants, but unfortunately there are only ~15 UM ED applicants on the site from the past two years. I was hoping for some super secret inside knowledge of the admissions boost or something--not really sure what i was expecting

What happens if you go complete only a few days before the November 15 deadline? I read that it can take them a while to process, and it's in our best interest to get the app in well before the due date, but why? I'm waiting on an additional score and a recommendation that's coming down to the wire and I don't know if I can go complete before maybe November 8ish.

I'm confused here. I haven't read what they say exactly, but I am assuming they say that you should "apply well before the due date" so that you can go complete because "going complete can take a while to process." If that's not how it is then I'm not sure.
