I couldn't imagine the idea of my parents paying for this. I'm an adult now (23 so i guess the word adult is used very loosely), and I feel no need to continue draining them of their money at this stage in my life. I've never had to really shoulder the burden of a huge financial decision in my life up until this point. Hell, if nothing else, at least I will finally learn to appreciate the value of the dollar and the things I decide to spend it on, as my dad implored me to do since I started working at 13 or 14. Should be a long, hard lesson.

Completely agree. Although I wouldn't mind the occasional gift cards/restaurant treatsdakatz wrote:I couldn't imagine the idea of my parents paying for this. I haven't had any parental support since I was 15, although they love me very much and provide all the emotional support that I need. I think that's been more beneficial to me than paying for things.

I wish I weren't such a splitter. My low GPA didn't significantly hurt my career chances, but it certainly meant more debt.
Even T2's won't give me a full ride. I don't even think more T4's would.
If I want a T1 education I'd pay a min. of 100K. Taking a T13 at 200K is an easy choice at that point.

Maybe you should have delayed graduation a year or more and take on a new easy major. It would probably have been worth it to do in your case.Desert Fox wrote:I wish I weren't such a splitter. My low GPA didn't significantly hurt my career chances, but it certainly meant more debt.

I had already graduated. Even then, I wouldn't even be able to get to 3.2. For most people that jump is actually a world of difference in outcome, but I'd still pick NU over Mich, UVa, and Penn because I want to practice in Chicago.r6_philly wrote:Maybe you should have delayed graduation a year or more and take on a new easy major. I'd probably get slightly more money at WUSTL, UIUC, or UMN. I'd still probably take NU at sticker.

Ahhh, I see. Well I am sure you will do awesome at NU and make big money when you get out. If I head to Michigan maybe we will end up fighting over the same summer job one day lolDesert Fox wrote:

See now I am mulling over retaking the LSAT because maybe 3 points would mean half the debt load. That's 75000 reasons to retake...
But, my heart is set on schools that doesn't give out merit aid anyway
