Did you get caught screwing the UW Dean of Admissions' daughter or something?

stop it.
That's why I'm more curious about people who outperformed their numbers, not just people who had great cycles. If nothing else, this thread might help identify what softs actually seem to matter.

Word. I am surprised how much my softs helped my numbers this semester. LS is not entirely a numbers game like TLS users say.

Yup, I should not have gotten into NYU (ED) non-urm with 3.3 and 172..... softs count!

Someone on TLS (I can't remember who, so take credit if you see this) once pointed out something really insightful: It's not that softs don't matter, it's that most people who think they have great softs on TLS really don't. For example, there's tons of people who think their leadership position in the anime-watching club is this tremendous soft, and when it doesn't help them, get convinced that softs don't matter at all.

4.0 (or even close) = no sneak, I do not second the motion.

I'll grant you it's not as impressive as the 167/3.45 acceptance, but go to LSN and look at the 4/164 column throughout the years, and you don't see much green

Boalt was a reach for you, but they take plenty of people like every year.
Gymboree's GPA made her a presumption auto reject.

quetzalcoatl wrote:Crackberry and Kretzy, no doubt
What's your reasoning for thinking crackberry should get the cycle of the year award? I've got nothing against Crack, and he's got an acceptance in Stanford that I badly want, but I just don't see what's so great about his cycle. He got into Stanford with somewhat of a low LSAT but he has stanford UG and a huge GPA. Once again, no offense to Crackberry, I just think his cycle is going as expected, which to me doesn't really qualify someone for a theoretical "cycle of the year" award. Now if he got in at Yale, Harvard and Columbia that would definetely make him a candidate...

yep. she was worth it though.
thanks for the congrats guys.
i was impressed by crackberry and kretzy's cycles too.
if anything, i agree with whomever said that this thread could be useful for explaining how people seemed to outperform what their #s would suggest. i for one am curious to know what others seemed to think gave them that extra oomph.

I think I had a pretty damn good cycle, considering my numbers. Must be the good luck charm.

I applied this year thinking I needed BU, USC, UT Austin, etc, because they'd probably be the only schools I had a chance of getting into. Call me pessimistic, but I'd say I've completely outperformed my 170 LSAT, having gotten into HYS, CCN, PBVD, etc. =)
edit: I've deleted all schools from my profile that I've already withdrawn from.

Many of the posters in this thread make me feel insignificant. Reading some of the LSN profiles makes me realize what good softs actually are. Congrats to all y'all!
As an aside- I would be very interested in reading the personal statements of people who absolutely crushed their cycle. I would think that would be of great benefit to TLS posters. Is anyone comfortable posting theirs (and if some info is too personal, just have it censored out)? If someone wants to create a new thread for this purpose and link it here, I think this would be a huge benefit for future applicants.
As for my votes- Kretzy and his wall of T14 acceptances, BioEbear for landing Yale, Gymboree for Berkeley....actually I'm going to stop b/c all I'm doing is repeating nominations and being redundant. Okay, maybe just one more who hasn't been mentioned yet- Shaggier for getting Berkeley.
