Dear XXXX Law School Admissions Staff,
Over the course of this year’s law school admissions cycle, I have submitted applications to many excellent law schools such as yours. Unfortunately, no matter how compelling the establishment, a student can only attend one of the fine institutions to which they apply. I regret to inform you that you have not been selected for my attendance in the autumn of 2010. Nonetheless, your eminent quality convinces me that you will matriculate other top scholars this fall. My deepest thanks for considering me as a potential student, and best wishes in all of your future endeavors.
Sincerely,
XXXX

When GULC waitlisted me a day after I withdrew nicely, I replied with
Go ahead and withdraw me.

what kind of loser sends a withdrawal letter? if you really want to do the people on the waitlist a solid, just call whatever secretary is in the admissions office and say "My name is John Jones, and I'm withdrawing from consideration." Then hang up the damn phone and go do something besides post neurotic crap like this on TLS.

Dear XXXX Law School Admissions Staff,
This year, due to the effects of the economy, I have submitted more applications than should be allowed. As such, there has been an increase in both the quantity and quality of the schools I have been accepted to. Your offer has received its initial review and I am very impressed with your qualifications. At this point in time though, I am unable to accept your request. I hope you will give my spot to someone who would be more appreciative. My deepest thanks for considering me as a potential student, and best wishes in all of your future endeavors.
Peace Biatch,
XXXX
Fixed.
