I got waitlisted with a 162/3.6. I have good softs and although I am not a URM I am hispanic. Should I even bother with an LOCI?

Okay, I'm about to finish my LOCI.
The prompt says "(1) You may submit an additional essay to the Admissions Committee discussing the reasons why you are interested in studying law at Chicago. Please submit this essay by email to..."

So, have other people submitted this in essay or letter format?

Mine was written in essay format but addressed them directly, at times. My main focus was just sounding sincere and direct, so that's how it happened. I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Haha, try back in a couple months maybe. They're pretty notorious for waiting till mid-summer to let waitlisted people know that they've been accepted. Earliest might be the very end of April / beginning of May, judging by previous cycles.

The reality of not hearing back till June/July is really hitting me. Thinking about just forgetting about UChicago honestly.

Hey I hadn't seen this thread before. Got WL'ed a couple weeks ago, an extremely pleasant surprise given my numbers.

Looking at last year's LSN, the earliest anyone got in was April 13 (although this might be the date they got WL'ed and then they never updated it once they were accepted), the latest was June 24. When's the first deposit due?

Has anyone heard of this cycle's acceptances turning down UChicago?

I've written an LOCI and additional essay that I send at the end of Feb...and an additional email informing them that they are my top choice for personal and academic reasons. (life partner is going to attend NW Med, our family plan is to be in Chicago long term)

I recently accepted a summer job offer running my own branch business of an test prep company. I will start training this month and begin in May, ending in August. How should I apprise them of this? It isn't really a resume update, since I haven't started yet. But since I'm attending LS right out of undergrad, I want them to know that if one of the factors of WL-ing me was lack of work experience, I would be adding another summer of intensive business operations experience (instead of the ambiguous "traveling" many straight-outta-undergraders will end up doing with the summer).

Also, does anyone know of acceptance off the waitlist this cycle as of yet? (I know they are know for late acceptances, but just if any of you had heard through the grapevine.)

People are turning down UChicago acceptances... just like they are turning down acceptances to other schools.

Waitlisted candidates aren't going to start hearing anything until May. UChicago's deposit deadline is April 30, so after that, they'll know how many seats they have to fill.

I'm not holding out any real hope, but I desperately want UofC. I'm reading Martha Nussbaum's Liberty of Conscience and am shocked at how deeply it is causing me to reevaluate the ways I think about religion, accomodation, and the law. It makes you realize what an incredible class of scholars they have teaching. Nothing I have read about the actual school has made me want to attend as much as this book. Go buy it.
