Mine was In Review one day after I sent my application in.Want2Go2LawSchool wrote:Mine switched to In Review 1/28. I applied before Christmas. I am hoping that a longer wait time means schools are actually considering you, otherwise they would just outright reject you right? lol.

$3,000 for first year. Nothing mentioned about renewable.
instate. I got 15,000 from Pacific and I might try to use this to get more from unlv, hopefully either 5,000 for yr 1, or 3,000 a year for all 3 years.

If not sure if I understand this. You pay nothing for the 1st year right? An then if it doesn't renew, you have to pay but still get in-state tuition?PhantaManta wrote:Ok just got package. I explain scholarship offer now:

First year is full tuition (still have to pay cost of living).
After that, they will give me a scholarship worth full in-state tuition. But that doesn't mean I would automatically be classified as in-state. I would have to try and take care of that my self. Either way, it will be a scholarship worth whatever the in-state tuition costs.

That is a monster scholarship! If I was offered that deal, I would probably choose UNLV.PhantaManta wrote:First year is full tuition (still have to pay cost of living).

Yeah dude, I am psyched.
I like UNLV but honestly, as an out of stater and it being a state school, I did not expect such a large scholarship. I understand it is a numbers game but anytime a school gives you more than you expect, it makes you feel like they might really want you so that moves the school up the list.

Well, since we are number twins, I am super anxious to see my packet! Maybe we will be classmates.PhantaManta wrote:Yeah dude, I am psyched.

Packet came today and I got the same offer! It would be extremely difficult to turn this down. Unless something crazy happens during the rest of my cycle, I think I will be moving to Vegas!PhantaManta wrote:Yeah dude, I am psyched.

Congrats

I might be there too, but who knows... my top 4 are Tulane 20k/yr, St johns full tuition, pitt 14k/yr or UNLV....... Each has positives and negatives!!!! I like being near casinos, but new orleans has that too ;D.
Which out of state are you coming from, and have you been to Vegas? I haven't, so I gotta visit soon. I also looked at apartments but people say the area around UNLV is dangerous, but I dunno. The nicer ones, according to people, are like 15-30 minutes away, which is a bit too far for my tastes.
Lots to think about.

I live in California and my sister-in-law and her husband live in Vegas. I have been there probably like 10 times, but the only part of UNLV I have seen was Sam Boyd Stadium for a motorcycle race. I hear the law campus is nice though. Are you going to try and negotiate your gpa requirement? I think I might take a stab at it. I'm going next week and having dinner with a graduate of the 09 class, (sister-in-law's close friend) so I'll take some pics and check out the housing.PhantaManta wrote:yo! wrote:Packet came today and I got the same offer! congrats...wow, this makes me want to put in a last minute application. my gpa is less than yours, 3.3, but do you think i still have a chance a some $ with 3.3, 163 (out of state), even though it is late in the process??PhantaManta wrote:Ok just got package. I explain scholarship offer now:

I wasn't planning on the negotiating thing, but I dunno. The top 1/3rd is kinda iffy, but I am not sure if schools are even willing to negotiate this. If you get that, let me know so I can get it too ;Dyo! wrote:I live in California and my sister-in-law and her husband live in Vegas. Mango, about your question, I think you should look at lawschoolnumbers.com. Go to last years cycle and check out how people did that applied during a similar time in the cycle. The results should be pretty consistent to this year. That should give you a much better idea than I would be able to. Good luck!

I have a silly thought about UNLV
If you got a prostitute in Nevada would this be bad for being admitted to the bar even tho it is legal?

Call and ask for some money. They gave you a damn full tuition scholarship, I'm sure they would at least cover your flight.PhantaManta wrote:I want to, considering I have never even been to Vegas. it isnt legal everywhere, but as long as you did it legally, i dont see how the bar could hold it against you for being a whoremonger

Only prostitute I would nail is at the Bunny Ranch where it is legal. But considering how much they cost, I'll wait until after I graduate and take the bar before going to that place.usuaggie wrote:PhantaManta wrote:I have a silly thought about UNLV

I'm writing a paper on prostitution in Nevada in my community psychology class and there are currently 28 brothels in Nevada.
