Anyone apply to GSU? I just got in and I think it's not that bad... especially since I might get a full ride *fingers crossed*

I've been held for further review since early December, so I just wanted to say hi. Thanks to the person who spoke with admissions to find out when we might get a decision!!

It's something from the ATL Bar Association for students who are from Georgia and show a desire to continue living/working in GA... The application came with my acceptance letter, so I'll find out hopefully soon

I'm in the held for further review pile as well. Anyone sent a LOCI or called or anything? I'm wondering if I should show interest or just wait and see. What's the general consensus?

Re: Held for further review at UGA - waiting room
I haven't. I am of the opinion that it's not a real waitlist. They just don't want to risk a more stellar applicant applying after they admitted us. So come the application deadline, I think we'll start hearing back in a positive fashion. I have absolutely zero facts to support this though. It could just be desperate optimism.Kchuck wrote:I'm in the held for further review pile as well. Anyone sent a LOCI or called or anything? I agree. I don't necessarily think that we're all going to get in, but I do think that we will get some sort of decision by the deposit deadline.LadyTarHeelian wrote: I am of the opinion that it's not a real waitlist. If we aren't all going to be admitted, won't the people who send LOCI or voice interest be moved to the 'top of the pile' or is this just blind optimism?anothernancydrew wrote: I agree. Re: Held for further review at UGA - waiting room
I'm not sure about the LSAT numbers being the key here. I was under review for a couple of days before I was held, and I'm 167/3.5 (plus 5+ WE and great LORs). I actually only applied because I got a fee waiver. I've already been accepted to better schools, but I'm still waiting on topping those. So, it's a little disheartening and kind of weird.

I imagine that the people with better numbers (among the holds) will be moved to the top of the pile. I mean, maybe not, but I doubt UGA is much different than other schools in that regard.Kchuck wrote:If we aren't all going to be admitted, won't the people who send LOCI or voice interest be moved to the 'top of the pile' or is this just blind optimism?

Re: Held for further review at UGA - waiting room
I think it's a little early for an LOCI, especially considering it's a hold and not a waitlist. Also, at this point in the process, they have plenty of applications to go through and may not appreciate the extra reading, though this is purely speculation.Kchuck wrote:If we aren't all going to be admitted, won't the people who send LOCI or voice interest be moved to the 'top of the pile' or is this just blind optimism?anothernancydrew wrote: I agree. Re: Held for further review at UGA - waiting room
I guess hearing from UGA by April 1 isn't THAT bad (looking at you, UNC...), but I've been held since 11/15 with numbers at or above last year's medians (164 was their 75th last year according to rankings). Honestly, it's getting a little disheartening. I never expected to be auto-admit, but to apply mid-October and not hear back until April from school I shouldn't have TOO hard of a time getting into...UGH.

I am held for further review as well. I'm across the 164 line but my GPA is less than stellar. UGA is definitely near the top of my list.

Has anyone written a LOCI or taken a visit after being held for further review? I am contemplating visiting regardless, and didn't know if showing a genuine interest in attending helped anyone.

Without wanting to disclose too much my LSAT is between 165-167 and GPA is lower than a 3.

Damn I would have thought both you guys to be auto-admits, even if jaxangler's GPA is below 3.0. Hopefully they didn't crack down late in the cycle.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
