Im nervous and slightly confused. My status now says" Held for final review." Does everyone's say that before a decision is reached?

Re: New York Law School 2010
So I got an email that says I am being held for further review closer to the April 1st deadline. Can anyone give me information about this? Does this happen frequently? Will I really have to wait until April, and should I ask to send in an additional statement or something?

Re: New York Law School 2010
$20K / year! That's a nice chunk of coin. NYLS only offered my $7,500 / year, but I'll take it. (Will pay for a parking spot in a garage near school.)
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: New York Law School 2010
Accepted last Friday with $20k/year
I've also applied to Brooklyn, Cardozo, St. Johns. Waitlisted at Brooklyn. No word from Cardozo or SJ.
Everyone trashes NYLS (discouraging, yes), but a friend of mine (a smart friend of mine) just graduated from Fordham and at his summer intern at a Vault Top 20 firm, he said out of his class of interns, 10 were Fordham, 9 were NYLS, 1 was Brooklyn and 1 was Cardozo. Thought that was interesting. Merely anecdotal, but interesting nonetheless.
His opinion was that he would pick NYLS with the money over the other three, which surprised me.
Still wary of job prospects out of NYLS, but law and living in NYC is where I want to be and if my degree has to be from NYLS, so be it.

Admitted with scholarship today via status checker! I have a few more reputable options but $ and location trump reputation for me, so its a serious consideration.

What are your numbers if you don't mind sharing? I've applied to similar schools. Interesting adecnote to think about though!

Re: New York Law School 2010
I work at a V20 firm as a paralegal and out of a summer associate class of 80 we had 1 NY Law student who was ranked 1st in her class. I have an incredibly hard time believing not only that that many students from Fordham were taken, but that that many students from NY were taken. Having a NYLS degree puts you in a very tough spot to get into Big Law. Not trying to crap on NYLS here, but a spade is a spade my friend and there is no way that is true.nickturner922 wrote:Accepted last Friday with $20k/year

Thanks for the reply, but I have to say I'm going to take the word of someone I've known for 15 years over someone whom I know as "Dr Guano" on some Internet forum. He has no reason to lie and he's not the kind of guy to say something off the cuff with out being sure about it.
I do however agree that trying to get Big Law out of NYLS is tough. Guess I better study hard if I decide on NYLS and end up wanting Big Law.

Re: New York Law School 2010
That's fair. First year associates from T14 schools here were skeptical of their chances coming out of those schools. Just trying to be realistic here when it comes to NYLS. Seems like you are aware of that at least.nickturner922 wrote:Thanks for the reply, but I have to say I'm going to take the word of someone I've known for 15 years over someone whom I know as "Dr Guano" on some Internet forum. Yea, definitely so. I may wait another cycle and go after the LSATs again in June to apply at Fordham.
