Well, then I hope to see you there soon!dehesse wrote:Hey guys,
I just spent the better part of my day reading every post in the C/O 2016 U Chi WL thread and honestly it made me feel a lot better. It seems like a lot of people ended up getting in off the wait list, and many of them even found out by the end of April before the deposit deadline so that was promising. Just have to write a solid LOCI and stay positive! Tons of people seemed to leave the WL or decline an offer late because of late acceptances to HYS, so just have to wait it out. No longer stressing about this (at least that's what I'm telling myself)

Of the three ways to be accepted, I realized today that email is so much less exciting than a phone call or snail mail.
BUT
I too am in today!
(The "Admitted: Welcome to the Class of 2017!" is cute on the status checker which kind of makes up for the email)
Numbers in profile, applied early December, interview first week of march.

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Just a heads up, none of the waitlisters in that thread found out before June (that's when the first wave of acceptances was from the May WL interviews). So don't count on avoiding putting down a deposit at another school.dehesse wrote:Hey guys,

That being said, I agree with the rest of the advice about sticking it out! There is literally no downside to waiting it out to find out all your options (so don't just ragequit withdraw unless you were never going to attend anyway) and Chicago might surprise you (I got no money at CN, but uchi gave me plenty off the WL). So write a good LOCI, be patient and hopefully we'll see you in Hyde park next fall!

I'm going to ride out the WL as well, and plan on sending a new resume with a Why Chicago.

Confused...
One poster said many people found out in April, the other said no one before June?
What's the range of time? Basically today until August 24?
Also, you think that they will only accept the 2 items they listed in the email (loci/why chi or updated transcript)? Because I wanted to send an LSAT addendum I hadn't sent before (didn't send before because they said not to send anything else)
Last question to add: They ask for the Why Chicago essay to not be more than 2 pages but they don't say single- or double-spaced. I am assuming they mean double-spaced? Ugh that's not much space.

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I just checked and realized the thread I saw April acceptances off the WL in was from 2 years ago instead of last year, so that's my bad. But I have to believe that the timeline last year was similar?leigh912198972 wrote:hohenheim wrote:Just a heads up, none of the waitlisters in that thread found out before June (that's when the first wave of acceptances was from the May WL interviews). Nope, like I said, last year the first WL admits were in June (I was one of them!). There was one small wave then and then another one several weeks later. Perhaps they'll be earlier this year, but I really wouldn't count on it.dehesse wrote: I just checked and realized the thread I saw April acceptances off the WL in was from 2 years ago instead of last year, so that's my bad. Can anyone tell me when the seat deposit is due?

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Seems like a very low probability, unless they're really trying to send out some acceptances before the admitted students weekend. Their waves have been about a month apart (1/21, 2/25, 3/19), so another wave just a week after their last one seems crazy.UCLAHopeful2014 wrote:If I am interview this coming week, what is the likelihood I will hear back in the same week?
Judging from this myLSN graph (LinkRemoved) of last year's applicants, the next decision wave won't happen until late April/early May. I know that's rough to hear, and I hope I'm wrong.

Oh gosh I really hope this isn't true. I would cry. May just seems so late! The deposit deadline at some of my other schools is May 1.AFP wrote: Seems like a very low probability, unless they're really trying to send out some acceptances before the admitted students weekend. Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I want to reiterate that I'm just guessing based on the LSN data from last year. Chicago may well change things up this cycle. If you're interviewing soon, find a polite way to ask the interviewer when you can expect a decision, and report their answer back to this topic.milkandcheerios wrote:Oh gosh I really hope this isn't true. Another thing to note: that myLSN graph shows four waves before April last year. We've only had three so far, and the ASW isn't for another few weeks. I have major doubts about my earlier prediction of nothing until late April (though I still think next week is a bit too soon).
