Hopefully it's a sign that I won't have to post in the Harvard Waitlist 2014 thread.CyanIdes Of March wrote: I'm a little upset that you got the 100 page post... I knew I should have waited for one more!

Don't even worry, we got this. I mean, my numbers are mediocre at best, my resume is lackluster, and my writing is pretty crap... but I'm pretty confident.

Even if that is the case, which i doubt, apparently our chances are some of the best they can be with the decline in qualified applicants everyone keeps talking about. I'll see you in the waiting thread lol.CyanIdes Of March wrote:Don't even worry, we got this. I've thought about that, hoping that moves the 'acceptable' line down just a little bit further. I'm a bit worried about that new Harvard UG Junior app thing, but I don't think that comes into play until the cycle after next?t-14orbust wrote:Even if that is the case, which i doubt, apparently our chances are some of the best they can be with the decline in qualified applicants everyone keeps talking about. Yes, it won't matter for us because the program requires them to work for 2 years before going to law school.CyanIdes Of March wrote:I've thought about that, hoping that moves the 'acceptable' line down just a little bit further. 100 pages, we've finally done it.
We few, we happy few, we Band of Brothers...

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Okay. I hate to revive this thread because I feel just as bleak as the rest of you, but here are some thoughts that have been jumbling around in my head:
softs/URMs
Doesn't anyone think it's suspicious that no super-softs-low-# candidates, or URM candidates, were accepted off the WL? This might -- MIGHT -- mean one more push from the WL before calling it a day and relying on cherrypicked candidates to fill emergency slots/deferrals through August. Maybe a handful. If I were HLS, my priority would be to wait until the state of/numbers for the class have reached highest stability before isolating the top students from that pool to admit. I wouldn't want to do this throughout the summer, again and again, because it creates more work, and because these are the hardest applicants to select -- highly subjective/qualitative, few quantitative metrics to eliminate students. Additionally, the later it gets, the more likely it is that students will start to withdraw from the WL. Withdrawals = less work.
It could also mean they're done. I KNOW. Keep reading.
the friday of doom
last year, the first large wave of rejections went out july 27th.

that's all.

Very similar to what I was thinking. I applied really late in the game (late Jan.) and also had below average numbers.nextstep222 wrote:Okay. I hate to revive this thread because I feel just as bleak as the rest of you, but here are some thoughts that have been jumbling around in my head:

My softs are probably the only reason why I was waitlisted, then offered a JS1 shortly thereafter.
But so far...no words...
However, I guess they are kind enough to give many rejections before August so folks could prepare housing for other schools, etc.
So it seems a safe bet to assume that most of us still waiting will know our fate before August...

Just got the ding as well. At least it's ended now. They also end on a positive note inviting to transfer in (and asking to reply if interested, so that they can give further information).. too bad I'm not going anywhere to make use of this.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
For future reference. I've been following the HLS fb page and it looks like they accepted 3-5 URMs (based on fb stalking) total this entire WL cycle. One went to Princeton and the rest went to Harvard for undergrad.
