Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think it's pretty unlikely. I am in a similar boat acceptance wise (I dunno their exact stats but I def over median for both) and I've been trying to come up with any reason that my CU app would be different from the rest (it isn't). I think we've demonstrated in this threat they are several strong apps that haven't heard anything yet. Given that auto dings for all of us seem unlikely, I think it's just proof that they don't make decisions exactly in order of complete date.

@whiteguy That seems unlikely. You were a pretty early submit though right? It's odd that you haven't heard. Maybe they just took longer on your app because of the rec? Like they called her to check or something?

Yeah I'm super surprised that you haven't heard back yet. But if YOU'RE not getting in, I dunno who the hell is, frankly.jetissent wrote:I think it's pretty unlikely. Yeah WhiteGuy, I doubt it had anything to do with it. I definitely feel your pain though, I submitted in October and I've heard back from every school except from CLS. It would be a capper to my odd cycle to get into Yale and Stanford and have the waitlist pair of CLS and UChicago...I'm still waiting though.

Hmm. He would've said something to me about that though. We're tight like that.Nelson wrote:@whiteguy That seems unlikely. You were a pretty early submit though right? In any event, this is a dick thing to say, but I take comfort in the fact that all you awesome people haven't gotten in yet either

Are the held ED candidates in the same pool as those in the reserve list? The only difference I can see is that the letter said ED candidates would be reviewed again in April.

I feel the exact same way haha Let's all pretend they are waiting for people to turn down Hamiltons and have our apps read to mail with offers as that happens.WhiteGuy5 wrote:

Sort of hating myself for not getting my app in until 1/26, especially seeing all you people with great numbers who haven't heard back yet.
Anyway, I just went complete yesterday. Is there an application status after that (under review?), or is the next update I get going to be an email or a snail mail?

Congratulations! You're complete. You can now completely ignore your status checker.jd5 wrote:Sort of hating myself for not getting my app in until 1/26, especially seeing all you people with great numbers who haven't heard back yet.

Yeah, admits by mail, "reserve" by e-mail, and dings?

Did any other reserved people kinda laugh when they read the part about this year's applicant pool promising to be the largest in history?

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
My GPA is just a wee bit above Columbia's median, with a 173 LSAT, so I don't know if that's considered auto-admit. I still haven't gotten my VCE, so I couldn't tell you in which wave I was actually admitted.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Ditto, because almost half that I counted DON'T have auto admit numbers. The only pattern I noticed was 173+ LSATs. Maybe they were worried about losing their LSAT median so they're making sure to tidy that up first? It makes sense if you press that the order of VCEs is early submitters with higher than median LSATs ---> everybody else.

Wee-bit above = might as well have a 4.2 as far as rankings go.astaris wrote:My GPA is just a wee bit above Columbia's median, with a 173 LSAT, so I don't know if that's considered auto-admit. Haha, that's awesome. I mean, it's artfully meaningless, but really kind of funny as well.Killingly wrote:thelong wrote:Haha, what? In with a Hamilton, postmarked yesterday (2/2). So there's no need for hysteria on the part of those who have not been admitted/held yet. You're still very much in the running.

Ughhh I want to believe you but you say you got a 180 by only studying with the LSAT pamphlet and you only have 12 posts =(.happierfeet wrote:In with a Hamilton, postmarked yesterday (2/2). Lol, I know people in our future profession can be cruel but that would just be a jerk move. The letters sent this week include a small insert that says "Update...Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have changed the passcode for the Admitted Student Website." As I don't think this insert has been mentioned in this thread yet, maybe someone who received the letter this week can confirm.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Ughhh I want to believe you but you say you got a 180 by only studying with the LSAT pamphlet and you only have 12 posts =(.

The bolded part of his statement is true. Don't lose hope guys!! CLS is definitely sending multiple batches of acceptances.happierfeet wrote:Lol, I know people in our future profession can be cruel but that would just be a jerk move.
