It is frustration. Like I said earlier, CU was by and far my favorite school. Best location, best students.ptblazer wrote:typ3 --Sounds like you've made your decision and regardless of where you go to school, you've got a great job lined up, so congratulations for that! However, with all due respect, I don't really understand why you are complaining. I hope it is just frustration.
My guess is that if you had applied earlier you would have seen at least an CU average scholarship.

You can still get money. Just pay all the first round of deposits and hold out a bit longer. You can't pay the second deposit, but the first one is no biggie.
Also, write them a letter and tell them you will go to CU with this $.

+1. Just be really straightforward, the worst that can happen is they don't give it to you, and you're in no worse of a situation than you are presently.mrwarre85 wrote:typ3 wrote:It is frustration. Thanks! I am definitely attending. As a lifelong Colorado resident, CU has always been my first choice, and after a relatively disappointing cycle (only 4/11 admissions) I am so excited to say that I will be at the University of Colorado in the fall.queenlizzie13 wrote:Congrats aplus!! Just got in off the wait list via email. Waiting on acceptance letter and hopefully scholly info. I'm hoping they really throw a wrench in my current plans. Really really really like CU Boulder

They said pretty clearly at ASD that they don't give schollys to people with DRW avatars.coreno16 wrote:Just got in off the wait list via email. Waiting on acceptance letter and hopefully scholly info. I'm hoping they really throw a wrench in my current plans. Really really really like CU Boulder

Re: CU Boulder 2011
Just got in off the WL.
Super excited, but also very conflicted.
I've already signed a lease in Madison, Wi and had been set to attend Wisconsin. I have a great scholly there to go along with in state tuition and I am just unsure if I can reconcile the cost difference.
I absolutely love Denver/Boulder and Colorado in general but even with a scholly CU would end up being $40K more.
Given that I am very focused on public interest keeping debt low is a priority, but there is obviously IBR.
Gah! Any thoughts out there?

Re: CU Boulder 2011
Heh, I'm in the exact opposite situation (can't remember if I posted in here about it yet). I just got in off the waitlist at Cornell and signed a lease in Boulder, and I'm not sure if I can deal with the cost difference...and living in Ithaca.
Honestly, 40k isn't a huge cost difference. I'd say that's about where you want to be more than cost.

Re: CU Boulder 2011
Yea for sure, but that is with a scholly which is obviously anything but a guarantee.
Without a scholly it would be next to impossible given cost differences.
Man I am so conflicted now, but I was riding out 4 WL's including CU's and knew that if I got off any of them I would be having a huge problem.
Well, looks like I am not doing anything at work this afternoon other than researching haha!

At least you thought about it before it happened. I honestly forgot I was even on Cornell's waitlist until I got the email admitting me and then I had an "Oh shit..." moment.

Re: CU Boulder 2011
Congrats theavrock! I know how much you wanted to go at the beginning of this cycle. Yeah 40k is not that big of a difference especially if you want to live in Colorado. Plus you are going to the best school in the stateLeDique wrote:Heh, I'm in the exact opposite situation (can't remember if I posted in here about it yet). And Ledique, I am in a similar boat. My personal dream = DC. I got off the wait list at GWU. But sticker at GW is crazy. Plus I already have a lease. But yeah Cornell is probably a school I would pay sticker for.
However, Ithaca is blah I agree. How much debt would you be in at CU?

Just offered 38k. Methinks some people are withdrawing... If this is the case, please considering continuing withdrawing because I need another 10k in order to convince my SO it is the "smart" choice.

By the way how did class of 2010 fare from CU? 09 was horrible with only 18% clearing 60k or more..

In off the WL via e-mail. This is really tough, Colorado has been my No. 2 for a long time, used to live there and my whole family lives in the mountain west and I'd like to do natural resource law. Buffs are offering 20K the first year, then 8k the second and third year. I've already sent in my seat deposit to Minnesota with 22k guaranteed per year on the table. Kind of bittersweet, I love Colorado but I just don't know if they can match. Anyone had any success negotiating a stronger offer? From what I've seen it looks pretty tough. Congrats to the other WLers, btw. This is a great school.

Same situation, pretty much exactly. I don't know where I want to live though!!! Is it too dry in Colorado?HornetGuy wrote:In off the WL via e-mail. Depends on your definition of dry. I am from Oregon and I'm used to lots of moisture, but I don't think it is too dry in Boulder (although I do miss my big trees). It doesn't feel as dry here as it does in the SW.Lord Randolph McDuff wrote:Same situation, pretty much exactly. I don't know where I want to live though!!!
