+1. Will do the same. Received the email this morning and after reading it was like a whole lot of nothing actually being said. Other than "some of us like you and some of us don't." Thanks?almightypush wrote:got the hold email as well... will return serve with a withdrawal email later today.

Got the email today too. It mentions sending a new transcript, but my gpa dropped in the fall. Will it look worse if I don't send one at all?

My interpretation is that they reviewed our files and we were neither auto-admits nor auto-rejects so they're going to keep reviewing. And they're sorry it's taking so long and they don't want us to read into that. Perhaps I'm missing something?

above both 75ths, i figured the long wait on me was because i had a dec lsat even though i sent in my app months ago. wrote a why mich, are we all agreeing that it's LOCI time?

out of all the emailed people... are we all above the 75ths? or is it an even mix of numbers? what if they just sent it out to EVERYONE who's been waiting for x amount of time? has this happened before?

I'm above LSAT 75, below GPA 25, some are above both, I've seen one below both.

Re: Michigan 2011
If you send LSAC a new transcript, they send it to the schools automatically right?
I got the e-mail too, I just see it as an apology e-mail for the wait. But I do think it means none of us is getting any scholarship money.

Re: Michigan 2011
This email was certainly not sent to only people above both 75ths. I am a splitter who ED'd and received no decision. Since then (Dec 15), I heard not a peep from Mich until today, when I got this same email with a paragraph thrown in about how much they appreciate my interest in early decisioning.
I thought at first it was because I just registered for the Feb LSAT, but now that I see you >75 people getting it, I guess it went out to a lot of people. I think I'll wait for my Feb score and maybe write an additional essay, but I guess that won't be until March. I'll probably be waitlisted by then anyway.

I would have been just fine waiting and thinking "wow, they take freaking forever (like Cornell!)" but instead this weird non-waitlist, non-ding, non-decision email does the exact opposite. So weird.moneko wrote:"We understand the anxiety that the law school admissions procedure can cause, and are therefore writing to update you on the status of your file in an effort to alleviate at least some of that stress."
Dear Michigan,
You are not alleviating stress
Acceptance will alleviate stress.
I can haz acceptance plz?
Sincerely,
moneko

+10000. I don't check my status checkers or get all paranoid about stuff when I haven't heard anything. I'm sitting here patiently thinking I might get lucky with a scholarship and now I'm just like wtf? Confused feelings now.Sinra wrote:I would have been just fine waiting and thinking "wow, they take freaking forever (like Cornell!)" but instead this weird non-waitlist, non-ding, non-decision email does the exact opposite. About 2 weeks ago I just stopped checking status checkers because it's like watching water boil. And it's been heavenly that way. I wasn't worried about you, Michigan! But after this email I can't stop thinking about why they don't all agree to like me.pereira6 wrote:

I received the email today also. I don't see it as a hold, rather an attempt to "update" an applicant (that they are still in review?).
FYI, at/above medians.

It looks like a similar email went out around this time last year. Some of those who received it managed to get in, so I'm holding out hope.

i didn't read it as a hold at all, I figured it was probably a result of the tons of phone calls I'm sure they've been getting from people concerned with their applications...
plus, i've already been deferred from early decision and i got the email, so I doubt it would be a hold on a deferral. I'm sure they just want us to know that theyre still looking at our files.

I just got a person reply along the same tone from UVA, I am looking at it as the same thing as from Harvard - we will consider you later once we figure out where the bar is set based on the complete pool of this cycle. Or - you are not getting in until we are done taking applications.almostfamous wrote:i didn't read it as a hold at all, I figured it was probably a result of the tons of phone calls I'm sure they've been getting from people concerned with their applications...

For the record, I have not received this UM email yet. I got the checker 12/15 so maybe they haven't gotten around to mine/ours yet

Received email as well. Below 25th gpa / above 75th LSAT. Has anyone who was deferred from ED received a final decision?

I'm in this club too. Though, with my numbers, Michigan is a reach. So I'm not getting my hopes up.r6_philly wrote:For the record, I have not received this UM email yet. I got the checker 12/15 so maybe they haven't gotten around to mine/ours yet
