I would actually ask for an acceptance. Probably moreso than a Twitter update.
Neelio wrote:that would be great... but look what this thread has done to us... it's sad.
This is sad. We're like a group of climbers that got stuck at 20,000 feet going up Everest and it's just snowing and the air is thin all the time. And our Sherpas are gone, and all our food is gone, and the apocalypse destroyed everything on earth except for our base camp and Berkeley. And we can just barely see it in the distance.

I think you need to take a break from this forum.

Go back to your bitter pessimism thread.

That thread is soon going to be named "bitter realism"

I don't know why, but today seems more frustrating than any other thus far in my wait for Berk. I definitely thought some movement would occur today.

So, this might come across as dickish, but that is certainly not my intent... Don't set yourself up for this kind of disappointment by creating irrational expectations.

But I thought creating irrational expectations was the whole point of TLS.

Now I know why Berkeley is hesitating on my file. They're jealous because I have more Twitter followers than they do.

Phew, just stumbled onto this thread, and there are 99 pages. I'm trying to figure out if Berkeley's already handed out a lot of decisions, if they do it in waves or trickles, and when the next wave might be.... any nice soul feel like volunteering the wisdom they've gleaned from the previous 99 pages of this thread? Or I can slog through it... which actually might be a fun procrastination method...

they seem to be notifying in fits & starts. mostly phone calls so far, but a few emails. they haven't handed out any rejections or waitlists yet, pretty much just auto-admits reviewed by dean tom himself. if he doesn't make a decision then applications will go to committee review in january/february.

Don't worry, plenty of people (including me) are in your position. The majority of admissions occur during the committee stage anyway.

Got home from work today and checked my email. There were two from Berkeley........ after a mild heart attack, I realized they were just alumni emails. Grrr.
