I'm starting to get a little depressed. My numbers seem to be equal/better than some that got $$, I wrote a "Why Mich" essay, wrote a non-URM diversity statement, and I have significant leadership experience (military). I'm wondering if some of the personal information I included in my PS and resume might have lead them to think I have more financial resources than I really do (the housing market hit me hard!). Not that it should matter for merit aid, right?

I'd really like to go to Michigan, but it may boil down to a financial decision.

Oh well.

They are just starting to hand out money. Hang tight. The Darrow invites haven't even gone out. Sounds like you might be in the running for one? I'm not sure what the numbers are around those, but you could look on LSN and try and see.

Also, the original letter or email stated that scholarships weren't going to be given til January, so there may still be some coming out at that time.

I will. I'm very confident that my december retake will be 170+ so that should help in January.

It was 168. They couldn't have waited. The decision deadline on EDs is12/15. I just got rolled over into the RD pool. I imagine they'll wait for the results of my december lsat before deciding.

Could be. I know US was given acceptance under ED and has been given the option of fall or summer start.

Regardless, I don't expect a positive response until after the holidays. I am borderline right now with my 3.5/168 anyway.

This must mean the ED class has been decided. I doubt they'd start sending those out until they made their acceptances.

I'm a TLS forum newcomer, so hello to everyone who is applying to Michigan Law!

First, a sincere congrats to everyone who has gotten in already.
Unfortunately, I just got the email from Dean Z today about not accepting my app for early decision...
I was wondering, does anyone know about one's chances to get accepted after previously being denied for ED? I know it's different for everyone, but for someone on the border who thought his best chance was under ED, am I likely to not get accepted at all now that I've been denied once already?

Any insight is much appreciated. Again, congratulations to everyone who was admitted and will be attending. Ann Arbor is truly an amazing place, and I hope I'm able to spend another three years there.

I know of several people in previous years who still got in. Our ED is summer start so at some point that section fills up (with both ED, RD summer only, and RD people they think will balance the class) and everyone left gets rolled. They try very hard to ensure each section is balanced with different viewpoints, ages, experiences, etc.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but I didn't see it scanning the thread...

My financial aid says "Law School Dean's Scholarship" and the amount is $22,500... but it also says "Award Year 2013."

Does this mean that I wouldn't receive a scholarship for my 1L year? Or that I'd pay full tuition for the fall and the award applies only to the spring? Or what?
