Sorry to everyone who got dinged today. But, hey, remember that these are just smart people problems, you're still going to be successful+get to where you need to be.
Good luck to everyone else!
I got dinged today, and you are right white guy, these are smart people problems. I am disappointed I got dinged, and yes I am insulted I wasn't even waitlisted but hey I've already got some good ones in the bag and I know from experience it is not the school, it is you.
Good luck to everyone in the forum.
Someone said earlier they were probably rejecting high scores because they were in undergrad, but I have loads of WE and my app made it clear I did stellar at my job. So not sure about that. Although my numbers were good, just not Harvard good.
I was under review since 11/7.

they may not necessarily be going in order of submitted/complete. My complete is 11/2 and I will get rejected.

was anyone who was dinged today part of the complete 11/23 pile? I'm probably dinged too but just wondering if any of the early November were part of the 11/23 group that I was in.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
I got the app complete email on 11/23, but my status says UR with 11/16 as the date. I didn't get dinged, but one other person said he applied "around" 11/7 (which I think is the 11/23 group). If he was 11/7, that makes for one ding. If he was 11/5, he would be the second 11/5 ding.lats19nys wrote:was anyone who was dinged today part of the complete 11/23 pile? My conclusion: they got to the 11/7 submitters and either did only a handful, or they haven't gotten to us yet =(.

rough stats in profile... obviously harvard is a reach for me so I don't think you want to be in the same "pile" as me

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Hope no one objects to this (if you do let me know, I'll take you out).
I compiled the news of the day. They clearly went from early to late submitters for rejections; the last person to get rejected submitted their app on 11/7 or "thereabouts" -- not sure what paul34 means by that. Nonetheless, a number of people who submitted between 11/1-11/7 heard nothing back today. ([EDIT:] Although we have one early November rejection it seems.[/EDIT]) Someone said earlier that according to last year's thread, there were two consecutive days of rejections after January. Maybe Monday is the next day of dings? I also noted the applicants' stats (where available) so as to show how absolutely ridiculous some of these rejections were (e.g. Hawkeye).
Rejections:
Hawkeye Pierce - Submitted 9/15, Complete 10/13 - (173/3.86)
Tiago Splitter - Submitted 9/15 - (177/3.47)
jpal13 - UR since 11/7
crumpledq - Submitted 10/25 - (LSAT >75th, GPA <<25th)
Samara - Submitted 10/28 - (175/3.09)
paul34 - Submitted 11/7
Campagnolo - Submitted 11/1 - (171/3.7)
weezer21
Looks like the dings stopped sometime around 5 ET.
Congrats to everyone here:
Good news:
Blessedassurance - Submitted 9/15, KB1 early december - (3.9x) - KB2
sayornis - Submitted mid-Nov/Complete beginning of Dec, KB1 email Dec 23 - (174/3.95) - KB2
Lily Pad - UR since 12/12, KB1 on 1/3 - (171/~3.9) - KB2
richyrich - KB1 on 1/3 - (173/~3.9) - KB2
ds.princess - KB1 on 1/3 - (171/~4.0) - KB2
nametaken - Submitted 12/4 - (175/~3.9) - KB1
caminante - KB2
Don't quote in case someone wants me to remove them from the lists.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Yeah. The fact that I don't really have a deep understanding of Harvard's previous cycles makes this wild speculation, but I have a theory: The smaller applicant pool = less people who have scored in the top 1%. Within this reduced group of 172+ers, not everyone is going to have T6 or T3 worthy GPAs. That means that there is in fact an even smaller number of people within that top 1% who can fit the astronomically high GPA medians of the T3. So, ironically, the smaller number of high LSAT scorers is putting an upward trend on GPAs. Three 175+s were dinged today, for example.mickeyD wrote:So 3 splitters got the axe.. not looking so hot for me. I'm praying for a hold.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Summary
Or, this could just be a normal Harvard cycle. Maybe they've never been splitter friendly.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
LSN seems to support this according to the last two cycles. 1/8 was the big day of early-January rejections in 2009-2010, and 1/7 for 2010-2011. They were followed by another mixed batch 2-3 days later, and then went onto send out the mass rejections in the 1/20s.amc987 wrote:After stalking last year's thread, it seems like there were 2 days of early Jan rejections and then the holds started the day after that. KB says that she's been doing things "a little differently" but that hasn't really manifested itself in drastically different decision dates than before (pre-Thanksgiving, several rounds of pre-Christmas KB2s, and now early Jan rejections). It'll be interesting to see whether KB follows JR's pattern this year.
Sigh. I need to stop OD-analyzing everything.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
