Damn, seriously?! With your numbers? Are you like, independently wealthy or something? Because need plays a part . . .ChriLa425 wrote:no money. not one cent. *sigh*

One thing I learned while discovering that I wasn't getting any need scholarship was that, despite my EFC of about $5k, because NU doesn't take parental income into account, the vast majority of its applicants qualify as super-needy thanks to low/no income and accrued loans.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
You do have a better shot with this than other schools that don't consider parent's financial data since NU has so many non-traditionals and 97% have been out of school for at least a year, another 88% out for 2 years. If you've been working for 5-10 of course you still have a better income than someone just working for 2 years, but at a place like Michigan where a lot more come straight from UG you'd be fighting a much steeper uphill battle.ArghItsBlarg wrote:One thing I learned while discovering that I wasn't getting any need scholarship was that, despite my EFC of about $5k, because NU doesn't take parental income into account, the vast majority of its applicants qualify as super-needy thanks to low/no income and accrued loans.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
This is primarily a question to held people. On my decision letter, it said that Held people have to respond to a form by April 1. Obviously I responded with that form two days after receiving the decision so I am all set in that aspect.
The question is do they also expect our additional essays, LOCIs, and CPEs by April 1, or is it better to send them closer to the time that they will be reviewing our applications.
Also, did not NU have some new optional essays for held people. I swear I saw that somewhere but looking back at my letter and all the e-mails I do not see any new optional essays. Did I see something or am I going crazy.
I am slightly sad about NU... splitter numbers with a lot of work during college and 2 years of WE, but I think I messed my interview. I was slightly nervous.

Click on the link to the FAQ in the letter. On there you will find the prompts. I was held in Jan and immediately sent in the LOCI and form...then made sure my essays were good before I sent them in. I would have them in no later than 4/1, though.antonin wrote:This is primarily a question to held people. On my decision letter, it said that Held people have to respond to a form by April 1. You can send in your stuff by whenever, the earlier the better, but that date is just for the response to staying on the hold list. Considering they are getting closer and closer to making hold decisions I would get those essays/LOCIs/CPEs in ASAP.

Thank you! Yeah I remember now those essays. They look pretty awful... Did you sent an attached LOCI. I sent a LOCI with my form, on the body of the essay, about 1/2 page long.

Every day on here I find another reason to be thankful that I don't work admin for any of the law school adcomms. But if this was for scholly negotiations, I totally get it and think that it will probably be a pretty successful tactic.neonx wrote:I had faxed Northwestern a 50 page packet of other offers. Ok, I won't be able to make it to ASD this week, but I will be visiting NU on 04/09/11 (going to visit 3 schools in 3 days). Other then strolling around campus and checking out the LS buildings, are there any must sees/visit/places to eat?

You're in luck! ASW is the 8th and 9th, and I'm sure they'd let you tag along with us on Saturday if you want.ArchRoark wrote:Ok, I won't be able to make it to ASD this week, but I will be visiting NU on 04/09/11 (going to visit 3 schools in 3 days). I should be coming to ASW, although I don't believe I'll be staying for any evening festivities.
