Are people really reading this as a 'hold' email? That's not what I got out of it at all...

My interpretation is that they reviewed our files and we were neither auto-admits nor auto-rejects so they're going to keep reviewing. And they're sorry it's taking so long and they don't want us to read into that. Perhaps I'm missing something?

I read it as a hold e-mail. From the number of these that they sent I think they are doing a pre-waitlist to see who sends in additional materials.

You are missing that some people submitting later than you have been admitted? (I think that's what I read in the previous pages)

No I'm not missing that at all...see the bold.

Ok when all of my apps are sitting around for 4+ months at most schools, an unsolicited email about applications that are less than 2 months old makes you read into it. It may be nothing, but since people are reading into it ...

It has to be YP. I submitted with a 3.74/161/169 in early november and got in with a scholly a month ago.

Got the hold email, if that's what it is. (Sounds to me like it could also be interpreted as 'jesus christ people, stop calling the office, we know we're taking forever to get your decisions out!')

Submitted 11/14, Status checker 12/15, 3.56/171/8 yrs WE. I didn't do a Why UMich, but I did do one optional essay on wanting to work in PI law.

Not going to send anything else at the moment. It's obviously my GPA they don't like, and it's not like I can send an updated transcript, having graduated in 2002.

Got "held" today as well. Numbers above 75s. Given the number of above 75s on this "hold" I tentatively concur with the YP theory

I'm not sure what the message means exactly, but the following is what made it seem "holdish" to me.

Your file has been reviewed at least once by our staff and the admissions committee and we have found much to admire. We have not yet, however, been able to render a decision, and are continuing to review your application file in the context of the greater applicant pool.

yield protect. they don't admit people with really high numbers because those people are probably gonna go to better schools anyway so they keep their yield rate (a USNWR stat) down.

Around both 75ths with no email. Although I only got a status checker at the end of December, so I'm not sure how much help that is.

With the way that Michigan does scholarships, would those of us who submitted extra materials and got in still get the same amount as those who were admitted during the first round?

It's only worth it for me if I know I will get money.

I was able to log into the admitted students site this morning, but when I click on "Mail & Money" it goes to a new login page that doesn't work (it doesn't say my information is incorrect, it just reloads and doesn't log in).

Has anyone else had this problem?

Got the email also. At 75th LSAT, below 25th GPA.

Doesn't mean much, but I'm stoked that I haven't been dinged yet.

Got the email. Stats at or above both 75% markers.

I'm thinking this is less of a hold email and more of a "Hey, we appreciate your patience" kind of deal. Yes, they ask for an updated transcript, but most schools want your fall grades anyway.

But after the waitlist at Chicago, I'm starting to get worried about my softs and whether other schools are similarly very unimpressed.

I had this happen one day. I think it's just a glitch. I could use the site one day, then it started doing that, then it worked the next day and ever since.

I got the email as well, and with my numbers (167/ 3.51 / whiter than day) I wouldn't read too much into it.
