All RD acceptances go by mail, so everyone who was going to find out today found out a long time ago.WhiskeyGuy wrote:Hey everyone, I know it is 4am, but any acceptances in the last couple of hours?

That's a bit of an assumption. It's entirely possible that someone was not home all day, and only just in the past few hours got home and checked their mail.managamy wrote:All RD acceptances go by mail, so everyone who was going to find out today found out a long time ago.WhiskeyGuy wrote:Hey everyone, I know it is 4am, but any acceptances in the last couple of hours?

Haha...I really just meant acceptance. Getting some money from CLS would be great but I have personal factors that make NYC schools very attractive.Tofu wrote:hamilton?Lysis wrote:Congrats everyone! I also have some personal reasons that make an nyc school a very good choice, but I didn't get a scholarship offer w my acceptance.
Not all merit scholly money has gone out, right? I thought it was just hamiltons/butlers

Yes. Only Hamiltons and Butlers go out with acceptances. Everything else wil be awarded in March, IIRC.somewhatwayward wrote:I also have some personal reasons that make an nyc school a very good choice, but I didn't get a scholarship offer w my acceptance.

are these later awards merit awards or need aid. I see on lsn last year a number of 175+/3.6- people with 75k or 50k and wondering if these are butlers, merit awards given later, negotiated merit, or financial aid.

Yeah I wish you could tell on lsn what was merit and what was financial aid...anyone know for sure about whether columbia gives other smaller merit scholarships?of Benito Cereno wrote:are these later awards merit awards or need aid. Last year's Columbia c/o 2012 thread made it pretty clear that they take merit considerations into account when awarding need-based aid. I remember thinking it was pretty suspicious that a good deal of people with higher lsats and not much need ended up with decent need-based aid packages.

Re: Columbia 2010
yea but I imagine that one would at least need to be in a position of financial need right? is that to say that merit enters into it but its still awards given to people without savings and parents making 100k+.babaghanouj wrote:Last year's Columbia c/o 2012 thread made it pretty clear that they take merit considerations into account when awarding need-based aid. How many Hamiltons do they generally hand out?

superserial is a CLS 1L and she applied RD with 175 3.6. She didn't get any merit aid but definitely got some generous need-based aid that she felt was more LSAT based.babaghanouj wrote:Last year's Columbia c/o 2012 thread made it pretty clear that they take merit considerations into account when awarding need-based aid. You mean definitely don't qualify as in your parents could pay fully w/out it stretching them thin?
Did you fill out the fin aid form?

my parents probably couldn't fully pay... but I don't think I qualify for need-based aid... that's what other schools where I applied for need-based aid told me, at least.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
