Just wanted to provide some insight to this as someone who got a JS1b and subsequent JS2, even though I'm going to HLS. I think one of the major reasons that a lot of people would have genuinely changed their minds is that some schools have been willing to change aid packages after the applicant has been accepted to Harvard and contacts the school to withdraw. While, for many people, HLS may be an obvious choice over, say, CCN for the same price, the choice between HLS at/near sticker and CCN at full tuition/$$$ may be a lot more complicated. Obviously, I chose Harvard, but I want to do PI; for someone interested in Biglaw, especially in New York, I could see how the money (if offered) could be a very attractive option. (Personally, I did not receive a hard number offer, but it was made clear that they were willing to increase the number. Wasn't sure if you all were aware of that - I think people have talked about it happening in previous cycles - but just thought it might be useful to know just in case. And maybe a source of hope, as much as it seems it might be a source of Harvard's frustration! But seriously, good luck guys - we're still rooting for you all!
