Peeps with those numbers and a submit date around then have been admitted in January. I'd say you're about 50/50 admit vs WL.

It seems that a lot of schools do not require parental info if you are over 30. NYU doesn't say that though. Headache, ugh...

I think it depends on whether or not they require the Need Access form --which is pretty explicit about requiring parental info. Per the admitted students website:

"Is parental information required on the Need Access Financial Aid Application?
Students wishing to be considered for any institutional aid are required to provide parental financial information on the application, regardless of the student’s age, marital status, or type of institutional aid. It has been our experience that without this information, the majority of students appear to have need. This makes it increasingly difficult to determine who are the students with the greatest financial need are. Parental information helps us place all applicants on a more level playing field; and allows us to direct aid to those students with more finite personal and familial resources. All information is kept confidential to the extent permitted by federal and state law."

ETA: I can imagine you're frustrated by them requiring parental info in your case, though. NYU does give you the option to file a formal written appeal to this policy.

OMG. I just read this. It's not like my expected parental contribution would be a whole lot (I guess), but holy $#!%, I'm over 30, have been married for 7 years, and have a baby. Like my widowed mother on the verge of retirement should be expected to help pay for this. Ugh.

Here's the text regarding the written appeal. It sounds like they're pretty strict with who qualifies for the exemption, but it might be worth a shot.

"What if my parents are unwilling to complete the Need Access Financial Aid Application?
In order to be fair to all of the students and families who comply with this requirement, applications without parental information will not be considered for any institutional aid. Requests for exemption from this policy are handled on a case-by-case basis and are granted only in extraordinary circumstances. If you believe your family situation warrants an exemption for one or both parents, you may submit a formal written appeal to our office setting forth the basis of the request. You must provide detailed information and, whenever possible, documentation in support of the appeal (e.g., court documents, letters from social worker, member of the clergy)."

I'm about to go all Berkeley thread on the NYU thread. Really don't want to wait until April to get waitlisted but I guess it doesn't make any difference when they tell you. Other than keeping your (irrational) hopes up.

I guess that is way worse now that I think of it.
