also, wow, is this FR2 group basically the last of us, or are there still applicants under review who are not in FR?

Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I didn't get a chance to study as much as I would've liked for the LSAT either. I only took 3 timed practice tests simulating testing center conditions, and my score (probably) suffered as a result. I don't expect adcomms to judge my score any differently than anyone else's.Virgil777 wrote: If anything, it is like saying "If I had the same amount of time that you did, instead of having 5 minutes taken away from me, I would have done better on the LSAT"
LSAC can't be expected to control for how much people prepare. And since you can retake with minimal consequences, there's really no excuse. If you think you can do better, retake. There are plenty of TLSers--thelong and JamMasterJ come to mind-- who had bad testing day(s), scored in the high 160s, retook and got awesome LSAT scores (>175). But If you're going to settle for your score, then please don't complain that you "didn't study enough".

Why does the rejection letter say "with regret?" You're the adcomm. If you regret the decision, change it. Lol. Oh well. Super reach anyway.

Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Boalt takes the entire application into account. This includes your essay, but also includes letters of recommendation and resume. Your entire file is a much better picture than two numbers (which, of course, have already been taken into account when you go to FR).
As the committee is made up of a group of people the decisions are necessarily subjective, but the committee prides itself on thoughtful and reasoned decisions. It is extremely difficult to make these decisions as so few spaces are allotted to so many qualified applicants. Getting dinged in FR (or in general) is nothing one should take personally or get angry about. If you made it to FR and were dinged you're likely going to get into a great school and have a great legal career.

REJECTED! via email today. Not really a surprise and not too disappointed considering I went to Cal for undergrad and wanted a new environment for law school.

Any estimates as to how many people are in the second faculty review group?

Anyone under FR 2 hear back yet? I feel like we'll start getting answers before March 9

My status said "under review 2/9/12" up until it update to "decision made." No mention of a faculty review but I also applied pretty late so not sure I was on the same path as the rest of you.Geneva wrote:ohhh. well, it's good u didn't want it i guess? were u under faculty review?wishesarefishes wrote:REJECTED! via email today. Declined Berkeley's offer of admission yesterday. I hope that ends up helping someone here. Good luck to you all!

Thanks! I'm virtually certain it's going to be Yale. I'd like to check out Stanford and Harvard (if I get accepted to either one), but Yale has always been very far out in front for me.Blumpbeef wrote:Wow, nice. Do you know where you're going? I'm actually going to decline admission at Columbia this afternoon, once I work up the nerve to send the email.

I would love to go to the second ASW just for the trip to NYC, but I already know that I won't be going to CLS, and I don't want to be sitting on a spot in the class and a Butler or PIF that could be going to someone else.

Berkeley is a pretty huge reach for me AND by far my first choice. I think I may have a 5-day long anxiety spell this week.

Good luck to you! Your numbers definitely make you a strong applicant at Berkeley -- stronger there than at any other top-14 school, actually, given Berkeley's unusually heavy GPA emphasis. I hope you get in this week.gravityrides0 wrote:Berkeley is a pretty huge reach for me AND by far my first choice. I think I may have a 5-day long anxiety spell this week.

Yeah, I'm personally hoping for Berkeley as well. It is a huge reach for me as well. Should be interesting to see how things play out.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
