Three weeks ago I wouldn't have been this interested in hearing from Michigan, but it seems like the people who have been getting accepted are much closer to my stats than I would have thought. Hopefully Mich residency and a strong Why Mich will only help me!

I wouldn't stress man, I was just speculating. Relax and enjoy the cycle Strange, at least you've already got some acceptances. I'll trade you one of yours for some potential debt in the futureStrange wrote:I really like Mich but I dunno if it showed on my "Why" essayhyakku wrote:I know this is stupidly naive, but from observing this cycle and the last, Mich. really might be as "holistic" as they come for the T14. Again, forgive the naivete, just giving myself some hope :pDid you guys getting scholly $$$ all write super strong Why essays?

So if your paragraph on the financial aid section of ASW disappears and it just says "Zero Awards Found" that means no scholarship money? If so >>

Do you folks mean people who got their status checkers around 11/22? Or submitted on 11/22? Between all the threads I'm checking compulsively, sometimes I forget what's going on.TemporarySaint wrote:I would love this.msblaw89 wrote:I'm really hoping 11/22ers can access ASW tomorrow

Should I write? I submitted 11/16, got an email recognizing receipt the next day and nothing since. No status checker.

I'd give it another week. Mich is slow in their process, and you're not incredibly past the time that you should've gone complete.rachelwang712 wrote:Should I write? I submitted 11/16, got an email recognizing receipt the next day and nothing since. No status checker.

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm starting to get a little depressed. My numbers seem to be equal/better than some that got $$, I wrote a "Why Mich" essay, wrote a non-URM diversity statement, and I have significant leadership experience (military). I'm wondering if some of the personal information I included in my PS and resume might have lead them to think I have more financial resources than I really do (the housing market hit me hard!). Not that it should matter for merit aid, right?foxylaxy wrote:I didn't write "why Mich" but I included it in my PS, tying it into the central theme.Strange wrote:I really like Mich but I dunno if it showed on my "Why" essayhyakku wrote:I know this is stupidly naive, but from observing this cycle and the last, Mich. really might be as "holistic" as they come for the T14. Did not write a Diversity statement.
I had a lot of leadership experience in UG and beyond.
Dean's scholarships are for leadership experience and academic potential/achievement, according to their website, so I'm not sure if writing a strong why essay correlates with money.
I'd really like to go to Michigan, but it may boil down to a financial decision.
Oh well.

How does one avoid YP? I wrote a Why Michigan essay and am genuinely interested in UMich if the price is right.

I got my status checker on 11/18 and also haven't heard anything. I think those of us with numbers above median/75th percentile who haven't heard shouldn't worry until AFTER more of the ED decisions come out. Maybe they are waiting to see if people withdraw?ColumbiaChamp wrote:maybe YP?MobyDick wrote:I got the status checker 11/10 and haven't heard anything yet.

Well if it is YP, the worst that can happen is a WL. if you write a LOCI, I'm sure you would get off it in a jiffy. though I think it's still too early for all that. but I am worried since I'm marginal at best at Mich, though some people got surprising acceptances so I'm holding out hope.MobyDick wrote:Perhaps.ColumbiaChamp wrote:maybe YP?MobyDick wrote:I got the status checker 11/10 and haven't heard anything yet.
