Got the same. They'll continue admitting one-by-one as seats open up. This has been a stressful, rollercoaster of a week.

Yeah, I've still got NYU's big waitlist pull coming up, but I was really hoping for UVA.

I was told we are only eligible for need-based. However, I'm sure there are potential exceptions to that rule.

Anyone want to speculate on when they'll start admitting people off the waitlist again? Will they admit as seats become available, or wait a few weeks and admit several people at once?

Please understand that the nature of the wait list process requires us to proceed cautiously to ensure that we do not overenroll the class. Going forward, we will make offers one-by-one, as seats become available. We also will begin to release some candidates from our wait list, as our committee determines that we will not be able to offer them admission in this cycle."

Hey everyone-

I got in off the waitlist right before the deposit deadline, and I got some merit aid as well (not sure if that is still in play in this next round of acceptances)

I HIGHLY suggest that you call the admissions office, and if possible, go to campus and meet with one of them personally. The UVA admissions officers are incomparably friendly and helpful. Especially if you think your numbers fall in line with the types of students they accept, this is exactly the sort of interest that can demonstrate your commitment if UVA is your top choice.

This would probably have been a good approach a month ago. Now I would suspect that if someone drops their spot, admissions will be looking at the waitlist to find a close match. Not to say it won't work - and if someone were willing to apply next year it could make a lot of sense. Be aware though that there's diminishing returns at this point in the process.
