Re: Vanderbilt 2013
I don't have much to add to the ASD summaries. The faculty, staff, and students were all pretty impressive.
I did spend a good part of Saturday looking at apartments. I looked at the two Groves and a few places out in Bellevue. My wife and I would love a private condo, townhouse, or house over an apartment, but it seems like availability of those types of places won't be available until mid-summer. We did like some of the apartment complexes out in Bellevue though and will probably end up out there. There is definitely more space for the money, but I am curious about traffic on I-40 during rush hours. If anyone has any specific questions about some of the apartment complexes out that way, feel free to PM me; I've research many of them and visited a few.

Re: Vanderbilt 2013
Went to Vandy ASD on Friday, it was pretty great. Still not sure if I'll end up there, but it's a seriously great school, I'm convinced of that. Anyone who has chosen to go to Vanderbilt can be confident in their decision. I don't know how much I buy that it's a kinder, gentler law school, but - folks said Vandy Law was like a family, and amazingly that seems to be true. I also like that they don't rank the class, which I figure probably helps with getting jobs.
Apartments: Thursday night I walked around Vanderbilt with a friend of mine from high school (goes to undergrad there) - he recommended the Americana apartments. Reasoning: The building is close and has a rooftop pool (good for attracting women). Personally I think the Grove apartments sound pretty good, but maybe too expensive unless I find a roommate. Hey, and both complexes have a pool. Yes.

I live in the Grove and I absolutely love it. This was my second year here and I'm pretty certain I will have a third. I have friends in the Americana, too. While it is not nearly as nice, it is significantly cheaper. I'm in a 3BR townhouse and pay $600/month. I'm pretty sure a 1BR is $700 in the Americana (whereas it is $1100 or so in the Grove).

I don't believe anyone has been successful in getting an extension. The deposit and acceptance form have to be postmarked by the 15th.somewhatwayward wrote:so i think i asked this before, but i forget.....by when do we have to accept their merit scholarship offers? april 15?

Can't decide between Michigan sticker or Vandy with money. Went to both ASD...Ann Arbor is super isolated and not city like at all, but Vandy is very Southern, which is just not my style. I really can't decide. I'm also on the WL on Uchicago and Georgetown and Penn.
Right now I can't decide between putting my deposit at Michigan or Vanderbilt....
Anyone else in the same Michigan/Vandy dilemma can give me some advice as what your considered when you make your decision?

very much in the same boat, and haven't fully committed myself either way, but have a good idea in my head at the moment of where I am going. There is no wrong decision between those schools and it is really personal. If you have specific questions feel free to PM me about them.stephhu wrote:Can't decide between Michigan sticker or Vandy with money. For those facing the Michigan vs Vandy dilemma, I feel your pain. But the ASD made my mind up pretty much. I chose Vandy with $$ over Michigan and couldn't be happier and am very confident it was the right choice for me.

I was also torn between Texas and Vandy and ended up choosing the latter. Feel free to PM me for more details if you'd like.gmichaelbluth wrote:Oh I would LOVE your input--pmed you both:).pearl_earrings wrote:rad law wrote:Me and another poster named pearl_earrings have been making the same decision and are set on Vandy. Found the panels to be informative, the mock class and the class we observed were both good, and everyone I met just seemed super nice, smart, etc. I could really see myself here. I'd hoped I'd have a more definitive answer after this visit, but I'm torn between here and Texas. Gah! I will be glad to finally have a decision made by this time next week.![]()
It was such a tough decision but I'm glad I settled on Vandy! Def PM me if you want to chat about it!

Thought the discussion above was a pretty good idea. I was choosing between Vanderbilt, UVA and Georgetown for the most part and chose Vanderbilt. Let me know if I can help out.

Anyone gotten a decision who went complete around 2/24? I'm a long shot with 2.89/167 but I haven't heard anything, so starting to get my hopes up that I'm not an auto-reject.

I dunno, maybe if you got your acceptance later than everyone else it says this, but everyone else I have talked to says their form said 4/15, myself included.chunge88830 wrote:But the admission response and seat deposit form says:" Please complete and return to the Admission Office postmarked by April22,2010"....LovesPinkandPearls wrote:Your deposit must be postmarked by the 15th!

And congrats to everyone making their decisions above; most of you are in great positions and no matter what you chose I'm sure things will work out wonderfully.
