I worked for a lawyer in Gainesville who is close friends with a tenured professor at UF Law. I heard from my former employer, who heard it from the professor that they were planning on cutting their class in 1/2 in order to boost their ranking for next year. Of course, it's not 100% guaranteed that's what they ended up doing.Moose Thompson wrote:I think this has been debunked. They decreased from 400 to 300 last year. Many people have said that UF will be decreasing the size of UF's entering class (I'm not sure if this is true or not).
Does anyone think that this will significantly change the medians?

Re: University of Florida
Cutting in half? Seems very unlikely. That would mean a drop to 150, which in itself is almost unimaginable for a school as big as UF. Also, this year's LSN graph matches up well with last year's so far, indicating no great change in admissions policy. I would be very happy with a cut myself, having already been admitted, but I wouldn't worry about one being imminent if I happened to be unlucky enough to be decision pending as of now.hbizzle13 wrote:I worked for a lawyer in Gainesville who is close friends with a tenured professor at UF Law. I am in transit as of 2/25 but, eek, I hate to say this, I am definitely auto-reject when it comes to my numbers. BUT, awesome softs, in-state, legacy, etc, etc.
Also, I took the Feb LSAT sooooo unless that letter is deferring me to the main pool I'm not sure how they made their decision already.

Re: University of Florida
I am going to go out on a limb here (and be hated for it) by predicting that this next round of decision letters will be rejections (if not entirely, then mostly). First rejections came via mail last year on the first Monday of March, according to LSN. Apparently it takes 2 or 3 days from "letter in transit" for letters to reach even those living in Gainesville (from what I've read earlier in this thread), so people getting those rejection letters could well have been sent to "letter in transit" around mid-week the week prior to the first week of March. Numerous rejection letters rolled in until mid-March, with most received during the first two weeks of the month. Almost all decisions received during that period were rejections. Waitlists came after. It could be different this time, but admissions offices often keep things the same from year to year. They seem to be keeping things the same so far this year at UF, and the fact that many people going to "letter in transit" now have poor numbers is not at all encouraging.
Best of luck to all of you, in any case. I really do hope that you make it. And sorry for putting a dampener on things, but whoever is posting here should probably want to be kept apprised.

My decision letter has been in transit since 2.19. Have any other 2.19 people received their letters yet? I do not have a welcome letter listed under mailings.

Re: University of Florida
they aren't reducing admissions past 300 again this year. They are admitting 300. Last year the total size of the school was 1200 (400 + 400+ 400). This year it's 1100 (300+400+400). Next year it will be 1000 (300+300+400). This is all the talk you hear about the law school reducing it's size still. Eventually they want to get down to 900 total so technically they are still reducing the size of the school, but each class will be 300 still.

Lomax,
My boyfriend got in last year during March, so there is hope for people without decisions right now. Also, keep in mind that people end up getting off the wait list from spring until the early summer as many of the auto-admits to UF decline their offers.
Congratulations, personi. Planning on accepting?UFLS2013 wrote:Any one else heard of acceptances in March?
As for March acceptances - like I said in my original post, the rejections came in all throughout early March. After the midpoint of the month, there was a mix of decisions. At the very beginning of March, there was apparently at least one acceptance. But otherwise, decisions were exclusively rejections in that period, or so it seems.
There have been no waitlists yet, as far as I can tell - those will come after the first round of rejections.

Unfortunately I think you might be right about the next group being rejections. I am in this group and got the decision letter in transit update on 2-25. My lsat score was also low.....153, but my gpa was a 4.0 so im hoping you are wrong.
Guess all i can do is wait and hope for the best

+1 low LSAT score of 153 even. I smell a batch of rejections for us.

What if they went through the RC;DP by lsat scores, and decided accept, reject, or waitlist, and then sent them all out together??

In transit 2.19
Accepted today via mail to my current address.
I was surprised because I thought UF sent mail only to permanent addresses.
Scholarship information sometime in March. Anyone else?

That makes sense
Thanks for the info

Hi!
I was RCDP on 12/3. Now I'm DLIT 2/25. My stats are 3.65 LSDAS/154 LSAT, URM, FL resident. I also see "Seat Deposit Received" under fees (with .00 amount due). Can anyone tell me what this means? Admit? Reject? WL?

I got my acceptance today (DLT 2/19) as well as the Dean's welcome letter. The acceptance was postmarked 2/23. There is a very good chance I'll attend. Has anyone received scholarship info, and if so, did you get it before you let them know you would be attending? Do I have to commit before I can expect any scholarship offers? Gee, I hope not.

alright my GPA is 3.67 LSDAS and I got a 161 on my LSAT. But I have been reviewed by committee decision pending since 12/3.. and am still at that status. whats going on??? my friends father works @ the admissions office & told her that they lost a shit load of application information (hence the reason for that last prospective students update) but honestly...it's almost been four months, i'm dying. does anyone have similar numbers who got a decision?!?!
