Well, they are asking us to hand over more than a quarter million dollars for the privilege of attending their institution. Which, coupled with the fact that numerous similar applicants were actually awarded something, isn't the chillest thing in the world.

I mean let's be real. You got into S and have had a ridiculous cycle so far. Your numbers definitely don't guarantee money from UVA (we have exactly the same, but I'm .01 GPA lower) given that less than half the class gets any aid. Even if they had offered you something, it would have been in the 50k range, and clearly with that offering, S is a superior choice.

What does me having an offer from S have to do with this? UVA didn't know that. I'm allowed to be a little pissed/disappointed/insulted that they think my attendance at their institution is worth $0 haha. I wasn't expecting a lot by any means, but $0 is stingy IMHO. The fact that less than half the class gets any aid is stingy IMHO.

I'm now shocked that I got such a generous offer. Although, according to the financial aid award I was given loans for full tuition in addition to a scholarship? Does that make any sense???

That's exactly how I feel, there's no chance, and no negotiating leverage, so might as well give my spot to someone willing to pay sticker.

"Stanford" is negotiating leverage, if you want to get money from UVA.

I meant that $0 at UVA doesn't help me negotiate with other schools, not that I had no leverage to negotiate money at UVA.

Yeah I am pretty bummed since this was my number 1 the whole time. I have higher ranked options, but this is pretty bummy since I registered for ASW already and felt pretty committed.

You aren't entitled to scholarship money from UVA. I understand being disappointed, but acting like UVA somehow owes you money is ridiculous.

I don't think it's just a numbers game. I applied early in the cycle and ED. My numbers aren't anything earth-shattering (25<GPA<50, 75<LSAT), and I wasn't really expecting anything based on all of those data points. I got 60k on what I can only assume is my resume.

Seems like it from the ones I've seen, subject to maintaining a minimum GPA that doesn't indicate gross negligence.
