It seems that most people that have applied PT in the last month or so have been placed on Priority Reserve. Because of the 10 day guarantee the PT application offers, Duke has already accepted a ton of students and are likely trying to ensure they don't overextend themselves. If you would have applied earlier in the cycle, you likely would have gotten in (I applied late and was placed on reserve as well).lawyersHATEhim wrote:Yes. 169 3.5 so I'm sort of borderline, but worse non-URM numbers have gotten in this cycle.heynowheynow wrote:Did you get your decision today?lawyersHATEhim wrote:Priority Reserve email. Priority Reserve for me. Just got the email a yesterday. Bummed.
Working on my LOCI. Anything else I could/should do to improve my chances of eventually being offered admission?

Idk how Duke has sat on my application so long. I should have asked for PT 3 months ago but I didn't because I am not a smart man.

Just FYI, Duke is closed today for snow. However, I live in Durham and there is no snow at all, so I'm sure admissions people could go if they wanted.

I'd worry very little about Duke being closed for things having an effect on admissions. So many people have been admitted on weekends/holidays (myself included) that I wouldn't discount any day as being a possible decision day.WhiteHouse wrote:Just FYI, Duke is closed today for snow. I finally reached my limit for frustration with being at "complete; ready for review" for over a month and emailed the admissions office to see what gives. At this point, I probably won't even attend if they accept me and I think it's ridiculous to basically tell an applicant that they've had your complete file for over a month and done nothing with it, especially with rolling out PT decisions in 10 days. I'm sure nothing will come of it, but at least I feel like I did something.

Just had to cancel my scholarship interview for 2:15 today due to a family emergency ... if anyone was looking for an earlier time slot... it's now available.

At this stage admissions slows considerably because they have admitted a high number of students and are waiting for deposit deadlines and such before making many more decisions.

I get the frustration, but you also have to realize that not seeing movement in your status checker for 1+ month, while annoying, is really not that bad. It is not unheard of for someone to submit in September at some T14 schools and not hear back until April, with no change on a status checker or news of any kind until the decision is rendered.Navyhornguy wrote:I finally reached my limit for frustration with being at "complete; ready for review" for over a month and emailed the admissions office to see what gives. Oh I'm aware it wasn't going to help my case, but honestly it did make me feel better and I don't really feel like I have anything to lose with Duke at this point. It's a reach anyway with my numbers, and the more I evaluate my situation I don't think I can afford a private school like Duke that is unlikely to give me much $$ anyway even if I do get in.benwyatt wrote:This sounds like a mistake, but I hope it made you feel better.Navyhornguy wrote:I finally reached my limit for frustration with being at "complete; ready for review" for over a month and emailed the admissions office to see what gives. They should just mark the checker as "application under review" to make us feel better no matter if it's happening or not like other schools. Lol

lol, dude I was at "complete; ready for review" from mid dec to the beg of february. I think its mostly due to PT. I still can't believed that I missed that when I was doing research on the school.Navyhornguy wrote:I finally reached my limit for frustration with being at "complete; ready for review" for over a month and emailed the admissions office to see what gives. Well February is more than half over now and as far as we know no one has gotten a scholarship offer yet. I was originally told "end of January", so there's *gotta* be news this week...if not they're pretty much a full month behind

It looks like last year the trend was that mailings went out on Wednesday, so hopefully some of us see movement tomorrow.theconsigliere wrote:Well February is more than half over now and as far as we know no one has gotten a scholarship offer yet. "Because we use a modified rolling admissions process, we recommend that you apply relatively early in the cycle."
I read this as "we modified our wheels into large squares so rolling could be more accurately described as completely motionless".

I visited the Duke Law campus today and did my fin aid interview in person. My interviewer didn't mention a timeline although I didn't ask. I was pretty nervous and I'm worried I may have given the wrong impression. Trying not to think too deeply about it atm. After touring the campus and sitting in on a lecture, I'm definitely fired up about the school!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
