Thanks. I'm guessing it was YP. I was accepted to a couple of other schools that I prefer over UVA so I'm not too upset. It was just strange.BirdLawExpert wrote:YP? Maybe. Not strange at all. Look at mylsn...Penn and UVA both have a very odd admission pattern, which is a reflection of their YPing.Theresa87 wrote:Thanks. I'm guessing it was YP. Waitlisted today. I kind of expected it. I've been UR since September. Oh well. It was the nicest waitlist email I've received yet, so I guess that's good for something.

For anyone that has received scholarship information, what kind of envelope did it come in? I just nearly had a heart attack when I got a big envelope from them but it was just the UVA Lawyer magazine. I was excited to get the magazine but would like to not freak out for no reason again if possible

Hey everybody. I checked my mailbox today, and I was pretty ecstatic to see that I was awarded the Dean's scholly (150k). Is there any chance I could negotiate up to a Dillard or is negotiating for a Dillard pretty much unheard of? Any advice you guys could offer would be great. Thanks!

I think all scholarship offers that arrive post-acceptance come in a smaller, normal letter-sized envelope that fits a folded 8.5x11 sheet.CerealMilk wrote:For anyone that has received scholarship information, what kind of envelope did it come in? Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
So I submitted in mid-October and have been UR since 10/20. I have a 172 and a 3.8, didn't write a why UVA so I've been assuming I got YP'ed but I've yet to actually hear anything from them. Should I reach out and ask if my app is still under review or just wait for the ding/WL to eventually come?

I'm in a similar boat. GPA above 75th, LSAT right at median. Admitted end of October and nothing since.SomeElleWoodsJoke wrote:Continuing in scholarship thread. Obviously the best admits get a Dillard (not expecting one) but what about us averagish folk?
I see that they're coming out without financial forms filled out, but would that encourage it? Does anyone have speculation on what got them a surprising offer, like a really good interview or strong resume?
25% > GPA > 50%
LSAT 75%

I'm not sure what good reaching out would do. At best they'll just say "yeah," and things will keep on going as they were. I've got the same LSAT score but a 3.6, and I'm in the same boat.KiltedKicker wrote:So I submitted in mid-October and have been UR since 10/20. Congratulations to everyone who is has been admitted and good luck to those waiting. This forum was really helpful and supportive to me last year. If anyone has any questions, PM me and I'd be happy to answer! (1L, Dillard, from the Midwest and had rarely been to the "south", didn't go to ASW, worked before coming here, brought a significant other with me, found housing without ever visiting the area.)

I wouldn't reach out and ask "am I still under review?" because until you get a decision, the answer will just be yes. If you are really interested in UVA, though, I would recommend calling with some questions about the school/ visiting and/or submitting a "Why UVA." Odds are they are waiting you to express more interest. If you don't, they may just WL/ding you because they assume you do not care enough to fight for your seat.SomeElleWoodsJoke wrote:I'm going to say the opposite. I sent an email asking them a couple of questions I legitimately have about the school. Hopefully it reminds them of my existence and I get a decision soon. I know it's still early, but at what point do I give up on merit aid? At median LSAT/above 75th GPA, admitted in late October after an interview

Disagree. You can worry when they tell you that you aren't receiving any.

Long time lurker here, I have a skype interview with the Director of Financial Aid soon. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with her... what type of questions I should be prepared for and such. Any advice is appreciated. Also, for those who interviewed what did you guys wear for the skype interview?
