I'd take that as a positive. Look how many applicants they have. Imagine how many of those emails they received earlier today and he took the time to drop you a reply.
Give it until Monday and then take him up on his offer by keeping in touch. You have all weekend to pen another letter!

I'm trying to be optimistic, but it seems like a pretty canned response. I hope you're right, though. They said they're supposed to send out a notification one way or the other by tomorrow.

I wish there was any indication of where we are in the stack. Having no frame of reference is soul-crushing.

I've been hesitant to ask this but it's seriously stressing me out - I sent my LOCI to Anne Richard (also cc'd the admissions committee...dumb move) a couple of days ago and I haven't received a confirmation saying they've received it. Did I completely just screw myself over cause I didn't e-mail it to Cordel/Dugas?!
Bahh the suspense is driving me crazy

Don't worry--I have now sent 4 emails (between the time I initially found out I was waitlisted through today) and haven't received confirmation of receipt for any of the 3, and I've sent all but one of those emails to all 3 (Richard, Cordel, and Dugas). So I'm not feeling the love either, unfortunately.

I'm one of the millions who freaked out yesterday and sent in a LOCI and just got confirmation from Cordel, but with no mention about the WL status...haha, hoping that means I still have a chance of getting in today....no whammy no whammy no whammy!!!

Looks like a post was deleted - someone was asking about alumni recommendations.
I think they'd be most valuable if you can find a recommendation from the Class of 2001 - i.e. former classmates of the admissions team. Other than that, they'd probably be most helpful if they were from a relatively large or consistent donor.
Beyond those two, closeness to you will make for a much better LOR than someone you think will influence admissions.

Of course they're still going to have to know you well enough to write a half decent LOR, but if I had the choice between an LOR from someone I worked for for a summer and one of the admissions team's classmates, I personally would have opted for the classmate.

I have my phone at the ready...it would really be sad if it doesn't ring....all is quiet on the western front. BTW I got a new job today as my restaurant closed this past Sunday. I was surprised that they would accept a guy who only has 3 months to commit.
