So you can say without a doubt that no other state save WA and CA have this problem?JakeL wrote:Fixed.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Same ol' song and dance for basically every state school in WA and CA, though. My alma mater had the same thing happen. Another 8% tuition hike on the horizon to boot.
Can you prove it?
Yeah, totally JUST California and Washington state facing fiscal problems...??On the other side of the country, in Georgia, a legislative committee proposed $300 million in cuts to the state's college system, on top of the $100 million cut in the past two years, University of Georgia President Michael F. Adams wrote in an open letter to students, faculty and staff.

Yeah true, but the UW took a pretty hard hit with a quarter of it's budget taken away. Never liked Emmert, but here is a write-up he did about it: http://depts.washington.edu/presblog/th ... -for-the-uAggiegrad2011 wrote:Same ol' song and dance for basically every state school, though. Then why modify my statement to read WA & CA, thereby excluding other states? My statement was in no need of "fix"-ing.akili wrote:I don't think that's what he was saying...Aggiegrad2011 wrote:So you can say without a doubt that no other state save WA and CA have this problem?JakeL wrote:Fixed.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Same ol' song and dance for basically every state school in WA and CA, though. While it's true CA & WA are having problems, so are a lot of other state schools.

Well that's true, but I think assuming he could "say without a doubt that no other state" is having this problem is a little strong...Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Then why modify my statement to read WA & CA, thereby excluding other states? Re: U Washington 2011 Applicants
Then why change my statement to say WA & CA, alone? Because while it's true that CA schools are having serious problems, so are schools in Wisconsin, Georgia and Louisiana just to name a few. Louisiana schools (except the main campus of LSU) just had a 5% tuition increase w/ another 5% coming soon and legislation just approved to remove the necessity of a 2/3 vote to increase fees/tuition.Well that's true, but I think assuming he could "say without a doubt that no other state" is having this problem is a little strong...
Making it sound like this is JUST a problem for WA and CA is disingenuous because it isn't just WA & CA.
He's probably just trolling, he seems to enjoy doing that, so I'll just leave it alone.

he added every state school in WA and CA, did not say "alone" or "only", I guess you can infer it that way, but that is not how I understood it.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Then why change my statement to say WA & CA, alone? Yeah that's what I thought as well. Chill out Aggie. I was just making fun of the fact that WA and CA are 2 of the worst states w respect to budget. I didn't fix your statement to say JUST WA and CA. If you really want to play that game, please show me how EVERY state is having budget problems.
Again, it wasn't something that was meant to be offensive, and I don't know why you are getting so defensive about it.
EDIT: Why are you accusing me of trolling? Did I post something else that offended you as well? I'm still on this thread after getting the WL, what does that tell you?

WA is still the most legit state in the union. Just sayin'.
Anyone else decision 3/8? I'm hoping to get my packet soon...every day I get more and more paranoid that my acceptance phone call from Mr. Le was just a wild hallucination.

DR 3/11 Mail 3/11
No letter today. Kind of relieved. The quicker it arrives the more likely it's a rejection, right?
So another day in limbo.

Me too. I literally live 1/4 mile away and I haven't gotten anything. Campus mail is slower than molasses in January so that could be why.NicG wrote:jrmartin wrote:HopefullyLaw wrote:Has anyone who DR'd 3/11 and DL sent 3/14 received their letters? Everyone here has these crazy theories but I think we should stick to the simplest theory is probably right:
There are probably 2-4 people licking and closing envelopes for a few hours a day. Just keep it together and focus on finals

Seems like the "DR 03/11-Mailing 03/11" folks have so far been WL'ed or rejected. Not boding well for me... Sigh.
Sorry to those who have been dinged lately. Will probably be in the same boat soon.
