it varies between chicago and penn depending on my mood. chicago seems to be winning the past few days.Core wrote:Yes, please!tintin wrote:here's to hoping for a rash of acceptances today

Are you paying sticker at both?tintin wrote:it varies between chicago and penn depending on my mood. chicago seems to be winning the past few days.Core wrote:Yes, please!tintin wrote:here's to hoping for a rash of acceptances today

I was going to Chicago until Penn offered me $$. You seemed to hate Chicago, based on your earlier thread. Don't put yourself through 3 years of that.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
yep, sticker at either. I had mixed feelings about chicago. I would probably have less fun there, but I think the degree would open more doors for me (particularly if I want to do academia) and I'm not sure I want to close anything off to myself if I'm paying the same price for both.Core wrote:Are you paying sticker at both?tintin wrote:it varies between chicago and penn depending on my mood. chicago seems to be winning the past few days.Core wrote:Yes, please!tintin wrote:here's to hoping for a rash of acceptances today

if Penn gave me $$...I would be there in a hot second, it would make my decision wayyy easier

Try negotiating, if you haven't already. Lol I tried and that led to my withdrawal.if Penn gave me $$...I would be there in a hot second, it would make my decision wayyy easier
If you want to work in the northeast, the difference between Chicago and Penn is marginal. The difference between CCN and MVPB seems to be a bit overblown on these boards.

Although to be fair I would take Chicago at sticker over Penn at sticker, but that's without having visited Chicago.Core wrote:Try negotiating, if you haven't already. I tried and the director/dean of financial aid said no and insinuated I should withdraw.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I think it has to do with their policy of not matching offers. She seemed incredibly stuck up and condescending. I talked to a few Chicago students who were really nice and helpful, but they all seemed a bit too intense for me, so it's probably best I don't attend.tintin wrote:ouch, that seems kind of unwarranted...Core wrote: Oh, ok.

CONGRATS! Is your profile true (being the only school to which you applied)? I multiply my "congrats" by 100 million, if so! That is great!ProudFather wrote:In, in, in!!! Missed a call from a 650 number, just got the email. Unbelievable!

Also, just wanted to toot Stanford's horn a little bit. I have been sending e-mails/calling faculty and students left and right in a feeble attempt to make an informed decision re: Y vs. S, and I must say that Stanford has been nothing short of incredible responding and putting me in touch with the right people. I still have to wait for the ASWs, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I may stay in the Bay Area next year.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Yeah, actually, it is true, but only because of the somewhat unique situation I'm currently in. Also, I was fully planning on reapplying next year and spreading a much larger net.rotflawl wrote:CONGRATS! Is your profile true (being the only school to which you applied)? Thanks everyone for the congratulations. TLS can feel a bit bizarre sometimes because we're all in one sense competing against each other, so I appreciate the kind words. Hopefully a few more of you get a call today.
