Choco, you're not just a reverse splitter for the T-14, you're an extreme reverse splitter in that your LSAT is significantly below most of their 25%iles. This is a problem because instead of your GPA tugging upwards on interpretations of your LSAT, your LSAT is tugging downwards on interpretations of your GPA. Consider, you mentioned you are coming from a, in your words, mediocre undergrad, which is going to cause natural skepticism about your GPA. Your LSAT, as it stands, is only going to reinforce that skepticism.
I'd say that right now for your goals (getting $$$ at a T-14), you probably don't have enough ammunition. There's absolutely no shame in bowing out, retaking the LSAT and seeing your options multiply once you get at least at or above something like a 167. Moving from 163-167 is just a matter of getting about six more questions right. You aren't seriously telling yourself you can't do that are you?

It would be more helpful to more posters, present and future, to update the spreadsheet with a ding/WL decision. The spreadsheets suffer from (understandable) selection bias in decision reporting. Each year it seems those who receive bad news from a school don't go back and update the decision and decision date cells.

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Understandable, but repeated actions with the expectation of different results is not gonna win the game. What did you do differently between June and October? How deeply do you understand where you're missing on the LSAT and more importantly, do you know why you got right what you got right? The difference between a mid-150s-mid-160s scorer and a high 160s-low 170s scorer is the extent to which they are running the test as opposed to the test running them.ChocoFreeze wrote:You have a point I guess... If you can hit upon a study strategy that allows you to diagnose where you are strongest and weakest at a more granular level than just section to section (for instance, how are you doing on inference vs. conclusion questions and do you see how they are similar and how they are different), then you'll find that you're drilling with precision and should in time see your score go up. You have a 3.97 GPA, which regardless of where you go to school, is a very impressive feat. You definitely have the ability to get the score you want/need.

I did not. At least not that I noticed. I don't think I looked at the status checker since last Thursday so I suppose there's a possibility that it updated sometime in that window.gamerish wrote:keezmasterflex wrote:Dinged.

Since I've been UR1 for 3 months with no update or interview request, is it a good idea to send Virginia a LOCI?
Same with Duke and Michigan, who i've been UR for 2 months ;_;

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
The "LOCI" title is generally used for waitlist submissions: Letter of Continuing/Continued Interest. If you are still UR and haven't withdrawn your app, you are obviously still interested in the program. They just haven't gotten around to deciding on your application. Instead of a particular LOCI-style draft, you could supplement your application with a "Why UVA/Duke/Mich" if you did not submit them with your original application (they often look similar, but also often have a different tone when drafted). This would not be off-putting in the least as it is something many schools often ask for and many applicants often submit these essays later in the cycle.ChocoFreeze wrote:Since I've been UR1 for 3 months with no update or interview request, is it a good idea to send Virginia a LOCI?

Waitlisted today. What are the odds of getting off the list realistically? My stats are below both medians

Does anyone know if there is a "ceiling" on scholarship negotiations with UVA? Like I'm guessing you can't negotiate yourself up to a dillard or a dean's scholarship at full tuition?

Same here. Got a Dillard with my official acceptance letter over the weekend, which I completely did not expect (I thought at most UVA would offer me something like 1/2 tuition). Suddenly UVA is looking really really good. Faye Deal are you reading this??? If so, call me!EnderWiggin wrote:Thank you all!! UR1 a bit earlier than that and radio silence as well. At GPA median, above LSAT 75, and wrote a genuine why UVA. Leaves me wondering....squirtlesquad14 wrote:UR1 11/12 and radio silenceHopefully I'll finally hear something one way or the other this week.

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I got a 165 in June and felt certain I could do better, so I studied like a fiend for 3 months and I got a 166 in October. I was really bummed because I had gotten way higher on a good deal of my practice exams (and a 1 point bump for all my studying was an awful trade)... anyway, I decided I was psyching myself out too hard over these tests, so I signed up for December, didn't study, and made sure I did everything I could to relax before my test, and finally got a score I wanted on the 3rd try.ChocoFreeze wrote:You have a point I guess... I'm not saying the "don't study" method is going to work for you, but if you can zero in on what's holding you back, it may really be worth another shot. If, however, your scores reflect your practice tests and you feel you were taking your tests in the best possible conditions, it may not be.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
