Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
OK, for details:
176/3.78, non-URM, been out of college for 3 years.
Applied Feb 1. App complete March 7, interview scheduled 3/28, interview 4/2, waitlisted on 4/13.
Yesterday got what I guess is a "JS1b", around 5:30, to assess interest (in particular, wondering if I'd agree to attend within 24 hours despite not hearing about financial aid until later). Sorry I didn't post about it then, I didn't want to jinx it somehow. Even had I not been lurking here, I still would have guessed from what she said that I'd be getting in soon - it was almost like "I'm not officially saying it, but unofficially, if you say you'd go we're gonna let you in".
Also, I'm going.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
I'm in as well!!!! 170/3.93, JS1 was pre-WL (march)
Got my JS1b this morning (although I'm abroad) and the JS2 a few hours later.
One thing I'll add, since its a little bit different from TLS canon as I've seen it is that my LOCI was significantly longer than 1 page single spaced...closer to 1.5 pages. I thought I had a compelling story to tell/needed to explain something about my interview, so I went for it and it worked out for me. Hope that is helpful for someone, either this year or next.
SO EXCITED!

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Not sure what this means, but given that they went straight to those they had already interviewed, I think that those of us with no JS1 can be pretty sure that it's not happening this year. Can't say I'm not bummed, but at least now I can get fully psyched up to go to UVA.txdude45 wrote:Congrats new admits!

I received JS2 today, but have low gpa (3.74) and high lsat (175). I was pre-WL JS1. I did not send in a LOCI. I am a competitive ultra-marathon runner, and cannot help but think the uniqueness of that soft may have given my application unique appeal. Good luck to those still waiting!

Also, I tried to add my numbers to the spreadsheet, but I couldn't edit it.

maybe they are satisfied with their urms bc most urms have accepted/didn't decide to go to another school.

I am almost 100% sure that this is them filling spots of folks who withdrew (hence such turnaround time). Once they are done (and the numbers are secured), there will be a final URM / low # wave (I still don't buy the argument that they don't need any of such folks anymore, why interview so many post-WL then).txdude45 wrote:Congrats new admits!

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Hi all,
I'm a pretty committed TLSer, but in-between work, celebrating and informing friends, figuring out plans and yes, even finding a checkbook to make my deposit, i haven't been able to update more details here. I'll do so soon hopefully.
best of luck to all those still waiting!
(And, yes, i did send in a LOCI. so, write one and see if that will help

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Sorry, one more thing.
i did indeed actually send a LOCI during the first WL admit wave. Like, right smack in the middle of it. I got discouraged i didn't receive a call and did something about it. I don't think they read it then, but im guessing they read it after... maybe???
don't know how much that particular LOCI helped (maybe they didn't take me in the first wave, cuz of my low LSAT and non-URM status more than anyhting else), but take from this what you will.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Anyone have thoughts about when next JS1b's will come, if at all? Seems to me like they might be assuming there will be more to dole out, given the fact that they gave such a tight turnaround to yesterday's admits.

Do you think this is the case for all T14's?eyfl wrote:I am almost 100% sure that this is them filling spots of folks who withdrew. Once they are done (and the numbers are secured), there will be a final URM / low # wave.txdude45 wrote:Congrats new admits!

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
It may have been a situation where they did the first round of JS1Bs/JS2s and were like "alright guys, we really want to secure our medians before we let in other people." Then, people reveal that they lied during their JS1Bs, so Harvard need more people, but this time they're like "alright mf-ers, for real, we want to secure our medians. tell me now!"lawschooler2be wrote:I am also interested in hearing speculation about this.testaker wrote:Anyone have thoughts about when next JS1b's will come, if at all? Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Lol, yes, probably this is what happened (assuming by first round you are referring to the may wave). I don't understand why someone would fake enthusiasm during a js1b though. Have they really not thought through what they would do in case they got into harvard? Or maybe it is the financial aid factor (since aid decisions come out later) that causes them to rethink their plans. Anyway, do we think numbers are set now and there will be a final wave coming? If so, tmrw? Next week? People on this website have been surprisingly good at predicting wave dates so far.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
I feel like tomorrow is too early. Today was the deadline for Wednesday JS2s. If they get who they wanted and already know exactly who they're taking next, maybe. If any amount of deliberation needs to happen, next Tuesday, or Wednesday is a better bet. July 4th gifts?lawschooler2be wrote:Lol, yes, probably this is what happened (assuming by first round you are referring to the may wave). Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Yes, this sounds likely. On another note, I wonder how the admissions process works at Harvard. YLS, for all its mystique, is surprisingly very transparent. But it is unclear who is on the committee at HLS (professors, admission staff, alumni) and how much say the committee has vs the deans at the helm. And also how the numbers matrix rumored to exist works.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
