Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Nothing would prevent a school from reporting your final UGPA, even if you don't send the last transcript to LSAC. Schools report UGPA on an honor system. LSAC provides UGPA data to the schools as a service for the convenience of the schools, not to audit their numbers.
At no point does anyone compare the USDAS UGPA with the numbers reported by schools. Reformers have proposed using the USDAS numbers as a check, to keep the schools honest, but neither LSAC nor the ABA seem to be at all interested.

So is the consensus that the first round of dings will come before any more JS-1/2's? Maybe tomorrow?

Ha I have no clue. I'm guessing as much as anyone else. This all kinda makes me hate rolling admissions.Anonymous4444 wrote:Sorry guys should have quoted him he said rejections are coming out and that scares me...

Yeah, there is a bloodbath coming. Probably early next week.
Then probably a ton of holds going out later next week.
With JS1/2s being slowly rolled out all along this time frame.

Unless your LSN numbets are waaaay off for anonymity, or you have some ridiculous C+F issue, no way you get dinged. Especially in first round!Anonymous4444 wrote:My week was just ruined...

If they had rejected you i would give up all hopes.
On another note, do you guys think there's a chance that i've been snubbed so far because i applied with 2 semesters left in undergrad? Or am i just reaching for a reason to be hopeful? U Penn basically told me they wont look at my app again until i submit my fall grades, and i'm anticipating more of the same from others i haven't heard from yet.
I want to be loved by the top 5 so bad that i'm taking the February LSAT in anticipation of being WL. I hope i can get a 170+ so that H and co may consider loving me, too.

As in, when you applied you had two semesters left or you currently have two semesters left? (I'm not sure how you would enter law school in Fall 2013 if it were the latter...?)facile princeps wrote: I applied with 2 semesters left in undergrad?
If it's the former - I had two semesters left when I applied (have since completed one) and I'm in. I had to explain in my JS1 why I'm not taking time off, but other than that... I think it's solidly common.

Sigh. The former. Thanks.edgeofthenight wrote:As in, when you applied you had two semesters left or you currently have two semesters left? (I'm not sure how you would enter law school in Fall 2013 if it were the latter...?)facile princeps wrote: I applied with 2 semesters left in undergrad?

I was reaching for a reason to be hopeful even though i suspected it was quite common. Guess i'll be dinged in the coming weeks since i haven't seen any movement as of my first/last update in mid October. It was always unlikely anyway.

If this is the case, is there any evidence that schools accept people at higher rates when their school GPA is higher than their LSAC GPA (compared to students with the same LSAC GPA)?pedestrian wrote:Nothing would prevent a school from reporting your final UGPA, even if you don't send the last transcript to LSAC. I haven't seen any evidence, and even if there were a positive relationship it would be hard to disentangle it from factors that schools already say that they weigh, like upward trend in GPA.Ling520 wrote:If this is the case, is there any evidence that schools accept people at higher rates when their school GPA is higher than their LSAC GPA (compared to students with the same LSAC GPA)?pedestrian wrote:Nothing would prevent a school from reporting your final UGPA, even if you don't send the last transcript to LSAC. FWIW I'm not saying that top schools are cherry picking the most favorable measure of GPA to boost their numbers. I believe them when they say that they generally follow the standardized LSAC method. My point was just that the process is in the hands of the schools, not LSAC. When Illinois and Villanova were caught cheating and people suggested having the numbers pulled directly from LSAC, some deans pointed out that there were legitimate reasons why the USDAS number and the reported number might not perfectly coincide.

So, are interviews schedule for all day every day this week? Are there interviews scheduled for day?
Any consensus on which day JS2's might go out?

I don't think there are any more consensus days for when JS1/2s happen. It's just gonna kind of roll out at this point as far as JS1/2s are concerned.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
This is a dumb question--as far as I can tell, no one has said anything about what happens in a JS2, although there is extensive data on JS1 interviews. Is it another interview, or just when she congratulates you on admission?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
