for people like me who haven't heard anything, does that mean that we won't receive anything?

I'd settle for a decision on my application...florencezx wrote:for people like me who haven't heard anything, does that mean that we won't receive anything?

I think I'm going to have to stop checking this thread, because I'm getting sick from all these high scholarship numbers being passed out and no email in my inbox. I likely can't attend if I don't get substantial merit aid.

I definitely also had a moment of.... oops. However, reading back over my essay I don't think I was obnoxious/THAT GUY, I just mentioned that I did have money somewhere. BUT I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING YET. This makes me sad, and also vaguely paranoid.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
you also have several choices among the top 14s, so scholarships might help with the decision-making. I don't think I can attend if I have to take tons of commercial loans (international) sadsrvyorgeneral wrote:I'd settle for a decision on my application...florencezx wrote:for people like me who haven't heard anything, does that mean that we won't receive anything?

Don't feel bad--even I went back and checked my essays. I think there's a big difference between insisting that you wouldn't even consider NU unless they matched X, Y and Z Law and saying that although X, Y and Z Law offered you considerable schollies, NU is your first choice.whitman wrote:Well. For a second I thought I was "that guy" too. I just re-read my essay, while I certainly mentioned other offers, I don't feel I came off as demanding.

I would think "that guy" wrote something like "If you don't give me x then I won't consider Northwestern." Mentioning other scholarships and financial concerns you have is the point of the letter.
Did anyone who did not submit this form get a scholarship?

Wow, I didn't think to include other offers in the essays. Did all of you who have received awards do this? I got $54k from Michigan and am starting to think I should have included that. Any advice?

Sounds like "that guy" is just a straight shooter.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
Consensus on the boards a few months ago was that you should not do this, but I believe that NU would consider a scholarship from a peer school if you wanted to negotiate. What is frustrating is that as an outsider there's really no good way to know what is appropriate and what isn't, especially given how little detail there was in the scholarship question.sgtgrumbles wrote:Wow, I didn't think to include other offers in the essays. I highly doubt that my WUSTL and IUB scholarships would be much influence on NU, unfortunately.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
I'm pretty sure I didn't mention any other offers in my essays, and I still got the Wigmore. I don't think that was necessarily the point of the essays; after all, you can always come back and ask for more money to match, after receiving your initial offer.sgtgrumbles wrote:Wow, I didn't think to include other offers in the essays.
