I think they may have lost my file or took one look at it and said, "is that it?" cause I have not had an update since 12/1 went under review.

Haven't heard anything either. Went UR 11/30. I'm really right under the borderline with my 169 and slightly sub 3.7. So I take the lack of a WL/ding to be a good thing... at least they haven't decided they don't want me.

Nonetheless, I wasn't expecting anything this late in the day, especially since the others who received decisions indicated that their status checkers did not change from 1/28.

Wish I knew Duke's a smallish school, so ordinarily I'd be inclined to believe it's close enough. This cycle, when considering the app increase some schools have, the ED situation with UVA and GTown (two peer schools in the same region), and the increase in apps per candidate (making matriculation into any one school for any one applicant more uncertain), I don't know what to think.

It seems like everyone with similar numbers has been waiting a while ... that doesn't rule out, I suppose, the possibility that we will all be uniformly WL/dinged, but I am hopeful that they are just waiting to see how their class fills out before they make a decision on what to do with us.

Ya, according to a LSN search I did, pretty much everyone in our range (169, 3.5-3.7) is in a holding pattern. I wouldn't give up hope!

what's the difference between a wait list and a hold? I applied priority track and got put on the priority reserve list. I just figured that was the same as the wait list, although I was a little surprised because I thought Duke was one of my safety schools. how is priority reserve different from being waitlisted?

WL they will look at after they deal with the PR List, and sent out (a majority of) their acceptances.

PR means we are not sure whether to admit you or not, for many reasons, but we want to reserve that right, and make you feel good at the same time.

I think they'll look at you again before the people on the waitlist. You potentially have a better chance at getting a seat than they would.

That's my guess though, not an expert opinion.
