+1. You do have CLS and NYU and other great options though!cardinals1989 wrote:ela7117 wrote:Hi all, will add to the spreadsheet in a minute, but just as a heads up, I got a DLS sent 2/5, was under review since 11/19. good luck to the rest of you.Sorry, ela. All these folks with CCN acceptances getting DLS is making me nervous.CosmoLaw wrote:+1. so far the chronology is standing. You guys appear to be safe. I'm still in limbo. It's terrifying.

THIS is the only hope I am holding on to right now....although I think I may be even more frightened of waiting until April to get a waitlist...CosmoLaw wrote:so far the chronology is standing. You guys appear to be safe. I'm still in limbo. It's terrifying.

I think that a healthy amount of acceptances will soon arrive, after the first slew of dings. So if you don't hear anything till about mid-march, then I would worry about that. Although this is just brazen speculation, it satisfies me for now.cardinals1989 wrote:THIS is the only hope I am holding on to right now....although I think I may be even more frightened of waiting until April to get a waitlist...CosmoLaw wrote:so far the chronology is standing. If you accept scholarships from many schools, you are supposed to withdraw from WLs. As a matter of fact I think accepting Berkeley's admission offer requires you to withdraw from WL. I wonder if that's that way just for SLS! I am terrified of the WL as well.cardinals1989 wrote:THIS is the only hope I am holding on to right now....although I think I may be even more frightened of waiting until April to get a waitlist...CosmoLaw wrote:so far the chronology is standing. Way to be optimistic, guys. Not being sarcastic... it's really great that you guys are hopeful about getting in. I applied to SLS, too, but because of the "black box" nature of their admissions process, I have never allowed myself to get my hopes up about them (or YLS, for that matter). They clearly don't prioritize numbers nearly as much as the other top law schools, and even if one has great softs, it's hard to tell if they're softs SLS is look for....

Early December UR. Looks like they are assessing my batch right now.

How would you know? Unless people who applied around the same time are getting "DLS." From what I've heard, you never find out about being UR at SLS... the status will only ever read "application forwarded to committee for review."The Real Jack McCoy wrote:Early December UR. Because it seems DLS's are going in order, and they have made it through mid-November.jrose5 wrote:How would you know? Unless people who applied around the same time are getting "DLS." Also, I find it strange that some people's statuses say "forwarded to committee for review" and some say "submitted for review."

Wow, really? That's the first time I heard that... no matter how I think about it, though, it doesn't seem like the two mean anything different.............cardinals1989 wrote:Because it seems DLS's are going in order, and they have made it through mid-November.jrose5 wrote:How would you know? Let's clear this confusion. This is what my page says:cardinals1989 wrote:

"Your application for admission to Stanford Law School is now complete and has been submitted to the Admissions Committee for review. Please be advised that decisions are made on a rolling basis. The Office of Admissions will make every effort to provide decisions by April 30. "
The status is
"Your file has been submitted for review."
I think people are just quoting different things on the page.

I'm horrified by the chronology of DLS's. I'm mid-to-late November, and I'll be stalking my mailbox all this week.

That Saturday DLS just freaked me out--had to go to the status checker and check again. Thankfully, still alive!

Maybe it's just because I'm in it, but does anyone else feel like this cycle is just a bit strange? LSN applications are way down at all of the top schools compared to the last two years (practically halved), Columbia decides to go all crazy, etc. etc. I like patterns, why are they destroying my patterns?

this year's pool doesn't fit last year's formulas.Verisimi wrote:Maybe it's just because I'm in it, but does anyone else feel like this cycle is just a bit strange? Well, I suppose it could have been 2/4, I didn't check until early Saturday. There is no date posted next to the decision.cardinals1989 wrote:ela7117 wrote:Hi all, will add to the spreadsheet in a minute, but just as a heads up, I got a DLS sent 2/5, was under review since 11/19. good luck to the rest of you.Sorry, ela. So for those of us who missed the first ding round (UR 9/30), what are the chances for ding vs. waitlist? And do they take many off the waitlist?

Anyone think sending in a late LOCI or LOR could mess with the chronology?

I mean, it can't hurt. Although from reading the blog, if you are in the ding pile, it probably won't help. It would only help the people who are in the maybe pile. That's my reading. But again it can't hurt.jcn4 wrote:Anyone think sending in a late LOCI or LOR could mess with the chronology?

I think r6 is assuming that you do a great LOCI, but if you whip a non-compelling letter that does not add anything new to your app, it might hurt in that they might question your judgment in sending it. If I were sending one, I'd make sure the writing/message/etc. is all up to the level of your PS, as it becomes a part of your file for whoever reads it!Dean Deal wrote:If you’ve received notification indicating that your file is in review and you’ve not heard from us, treat this as an opportunity to update your file. What you submit may be that nudge I need. Keep in mind, that this is not an invitation to clutter my in-box with non-essential information or to call me with weekly updates.
