The sinking feeling of an expected rejection email from Harvard was shortly thereafter tempered by an acceptance packet from Michigan!!

Yeah, same here.Applicant2010 wrote:What does everyone's "Admissions Communications" list on the admitted students site? I was accepted previously, and it listed the two items mailed to me (admit packet and housing packet). However, it now shows nothing except my personal information.
Just curious if this is similar for others. Thanks!

Cue UVA trolling:
UVA's medians are at/above Michigan's 75%s. Ha! Take that!

That's what it seems like to me, too. The description below the checker implies that WLs are conveyed through there. Oh well.robin600 wrote:If it's a waitlist doesn't the waitlist offer extended come up on the status checker? I think we're rejected guys

Did anyone else get the we're-not-ready-to-make-a-decision email from michigan today? Is this a common update or is it a nice way of being held?

That was a weird email. Don't know what to make of it but it read at first like a rejection email.Reedie wrote:Just got it.babaghanouj wrote:Did anyone else get the we're-not-ready-to-make-a-decision email from michigan today? Is this a common update or is it a nice way of being held?

Full text:
Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan Law School. Because you went to great lengths to apply early in our season, we understand that you may feel some disappointment at not having received your answer yet. We understand the anxiety that the law school admissions procedure can cause, and are therefore writing to update you on the status of your file in an effort to alleviate at least some of that stress.
Your file has been reviewed at least once by our staff and the admissions committee and we have found much to admire. We have not yet, however, been able to render a decision, and are continuing to review your application file in the context of the greater applicant pool. There are a variety of reasons why we may not have been able to reach a speedy decision: sometimes we are waiting for additional information that we know is en route, like recommendation letters, updated transcripts, a new LSAT score, residency information; sometimes file-readers have different interpretations of or reactions to an application, and we need to meet and discuss; and so on. We take our responsibility of composing a top-notch class extremely seriously, and that is to your benefit; you can be assured your application materials are receiving a thorough review.
We are unfortunately unable to give personalized feedback on individual applications. We would, however, be happy to add items to your file for our readers' benefit, if you have new information you would like us to consider. But it certainly is not necessary to add anything and you should not interpret this email as a solicitation for more material. Indeed, because we make decisions on a rolling basis, it is possible that we will send a decision to you before we receive and review any new submissions.
Our goal is to have all decisions made by the end of April, but most applicants will hear well before that time. Please be assured that receiving this email does not mean you will not get an answer until then! It simply indicates that we recognize you have been waiting patiently, and we appreciate that.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at law.jd.admissions@umich.edu or 734.764.0537. I sincerely appreciate your interest in the University of Michigan Law School.
I wonder if "more information" would include my dec LSAT that should have come in now?

For everyone who is getting a hold email (or any other decision), does your status checker change the day before you get the email?

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
I dunno what to make of Michigan. Part of me still believes they just changed the admitted students site. I mean a lot of us are above 75% numbers. Odd to be rejections or even waitlists. Especially with Dean Pless saying how little applications are up. I would also find it odd being as I have only been complete since 12/18 and excluding the break thats only around 2 weeks at complete to get a rejection. They must have hated me.
I have already accepted a rejection letter is coming. Sorry for the holds today. Hopefully you will get in.
Has anyone got anything in the mail from the 1/11 batch? My mail already came today and nothing.
