Do you guys think because of their travels, NU isn't going to release decisions this week? I don't know why but I just had a feeling this was the week I would find out.

After getting the same update as you last week I was hoping for movement. I was also really hoping to hear back from the New York schools this week too...

For a candidate with low-to-borderline #'s and tons of work experience, how much of a game-changer can the interview be? I had to cancel mine due to scheduling conflicts and the interview calendar shows no more available time slots. I received an email from admissions asking if I would like them to go ahead and process my application without an interview. I kind of want to tell them to go ahead, but if an interview can give me a boost beyond my #'s I would be more inclined to get 'er done.

For reference I am: >25% LSAT ; <25% GPA.

I think if you are reasonably unable to complete one, they will understand. Maybe you could send a "Why NU?" in its place to affirm to them your interest and commitment to the school.

How far in advance did you cancel? Did you try to sign up for a new interview before cancelling? By cancelling the interview because of a "scheduling conflict", it's clear that the school wasn't your top priority, and therefore comes across as though you're not really that interested in Northwestern anyway. If that's not the case, and you really want to go to NU, I would suggest you try your best to reschedule so that you can show how interested you are.

I remember seeing an LSN profile with median gpa, and around 25% lsat, with 10 years of FT work experience in finance industry, who interviewed, but ended up being waitlisted. So, take that as you see fit.

I cancelled 3 days in advance and tried to reschedule immediately. When I saw I was unable to, I emailed them right away explaining why I had to cancel and that I tried to resched. but couldn't.

Class of 2015 includes experience in pro sports, professional music, and high-level ibanking experience. I would say those are 'elite' for the purposes of admission.

I don't know that I'd consider my work experience "elite", but I haven't been flipping burgers either. I have 6 years of work in finance selling mutual funds for a major bank and a lot of work running my own non-profit organization since graduating from UG. My personal statement was specifically tailored to answering "why law school?" and describes how my professional experiences led me to want to become a lawyer.

I'm going to email the admissions office back and explain that interviewing is important to me, but that if there are no slots available I'd like to write a "why northwestern" essay instead if acceptable.

Thanks. I can extrapolate from those real-world examples to have a very good idea of what type of individual would qualify as someone with "elite" work experience.
