If you are a new admit: congrats and put some effort into your scholarship essays.

lol that's great. I think I filled out the word count, so hopefully she sees that as effort. I wonder when we can hope for a finaid decision now.

From my LSN stalking, only a couple people have received $$, and it's the defer a year/full ride deal. Last year's people mostly received emails on March 23 for the smaller schollies, but who knows?

Yeah, just read that. You gotta wonder....

"I am Cornholio: I need TP...."

or:

"I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle..."

Anyone else worried they're "that guy"? I don't think I was and certainly didn't mean to be, but now I'm worried.

Definitely. I figure some asshole said "I require $100,000 or I won't go to NU." The whole point of the scholarship letter is to ask for money, so saying "I am very excited about Northwestern! And I would sure appreciate some financial assistance for these reasons!" couldn't possibly be out of bounds.

I have a question about holds. At first I wasn't so bummed out about being held because I figured that being held meant they would still look at my application before admitting everyone they were going to admit (otherwise, why not waitlist?) But am I totally off base about this? Is NU admitting a whole class and THEN looking at holds?

Most holds are going to be waitlisted, it is kind of like a soft waitlist. You really shouldn't think of it as anything other than a waitlist.

The point of hold is probably to quarantine the borderlines and then see who actually wants to attend and see which of their admits actually put down seat deposits (so they can tell if they need high LSATs or high GPAs).

I considered it a waitlist, but your insight makes sense about high LSATs or high GPAs. Thanks for that! Here's to hoping a lot of high LSATs get in somewhere else. My LSAT is pretty much all I have going for me at NU right now.

im screwed then. 153.

Haha I really hope I'm not that guy - I think I may have mentioned another full-ride and said I'm very debt adverse but definitely didn't say or else or anything...also I may have written three sentences for a couple of the questions but they were very long sentences - lots of punctuation and stuff...I mean...he can't be talking about me...right?

I think they'll be coming early this week. I was admitted after the March 1st FinAid/scholarship deadline, so they told me I had an extended deadline of Friday, March 18 at 3:00 CST. I'm guessing they chose that time because they are making decisions ASAP.
