Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Question - Is it true that Columbia has a 3.5 soft GPA floor? What if you are slightly below 3.5 with a LSAT over the 75? Just wondering if anyone has any information about this... I've seen excerpts of people talking about Columbia's 3.5 "soft" floor but don't know where they're getting that information from. From LSN it looks more like 3.4 is the floor.

Doesn't sound right. Their 25th GPA is 3.54, so a 3.5 floor wouldn't make much sense. Unless 25th of their class is crammed between 3.5-3.54.RonMexico1 wrote:Question - Is it true that Columbia has a 3.5 soft GPA floor? What if you are slightly below 3.5 with a LSAT over the 75? Did anyone else notice on LSN's Columbia 2013-14 graph that there's kind of a big hole where 174+ lsats and 3.7+ GPAs interact? (Excepting Rehbands, of course.) Suspicious? Why haven't a bunch of people in that range heard back?

Perhaps that is where the majority of the interviewees were selected from? Who knows...Howl wrote:Did anyone else notice on LSN's Columbia 2013-14 graph that there's kind of a big hole where 174+ lsats and 3.7+ GPAs interact? (Excepting Rehbands, of course.) Suspicious? Obviously, the baseless speculation I will make is that people in these categories are all getting hamiltons/butlers and the scholarships are somehow holding up mailingscharlie.black wrote:same.wtrc wrote:I'm in this category, didn't get an interview.angels2fly wrote:could these have been the interviewed folks?Howl wrote:Did anyone else notice on LSN's Columbia 2013-14 graph that there's kind of a big hole where 174+ lsats and 3.7+ GPAs interact? My application was submitted in earlier november, but marked as complete around 11/20. I haven't heard anything yet....are we expecting these decisions soon for those who went complete around 11/20?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It's probably more like 3.3 these days.RonMexico1 wrote:Question - Is it true that Columbia has a 3.5 soft GPA floor? What if you are slightly below 3.5 with a LSAT over the 75? Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Anecdotally, I got in from the waitlist last cycle as a 3.49/179, after being waitlisted during my final semester when I had a 3.28. So I think Tiago is probably right, and I doubt anything 3.4+/75th+ is a problem for regular admits at this point.Tiago Splitter wrote:It's probably more like 3.3 these days.RonMexico1 wrote:Question - Is it true that Columbia has a 3.5 soft GPA floor? Anyone know how long Columbia's letters typically take to reach Hawaii? Or is anything outside of the continental US considered international?

This means that there could possibly be loads of Hamiltons and Butlers floating around the ocean.wtrc wrote:I think this is the CLS method to reach Hawaii, good luck!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObL3L6MRvN4graphia wrote:Anyone know how long Columbia's letters typically take to reach Hawaii?
