Actually, I'm going to go ahead and start this conversation:
Multiple-Deposit Notification
Each year, LSAC provides participating law schools with periodic reports detailing the number of applicants who have submitted seat deposits or commitments at other participating schools, along with identification of those other schools. Beginning May 15 each year, these reports now also include the names and LSAC account numbers for all candidates who have deposits/commitments at multiple participating schools.
What?! I had no idea this was a thing. Has anyone confirmed that HLS actually knows where you're depositing...?

Seemingly yes...but only if you've double-deposited.

I'm trying to figure out why the 174 sees almost 100% acceptance, while the 173 almost 0%. 173 is Harvard's median so is it possible that 174 is now their 75%? Do you think it's just coincidence? It's pretty depressing in any case.
This is why I like the
graphs better than the search. The 174 is an aberration, it should be lower. Here's the 176 search, for example:

I thought HLS median had always been 174, with 75th at 176. When did this change?

The HLS median has been 173 for the past seven years. Matter of fact, no school has ever reported a median higher than 173.

Do we still think a 2nd wave for people with lower numbers is coming?

So it's weird because I think we were all sort of assuming (based on the fact that there were no URMs or any low number acceptances in the big waitlist acceptance wave) that the second wave would be coming. But now I'm starting to wonder why we're all thinking that. There's really no precedent for it, as I see it. There's a big wave, and then a tiny trickle at the end of the summer.
Not sure why people (including me) think the second wave is coming.

Yeah, agreed. I read through most of the 2012 thread, and basically, after one big wave (which seemed to come within a two-week interview/acceptance period), things got very spotty.
Also I am losing my mind on this thread. Apparently some people didn't get dinged last year until -- wait for it -- September 5th.

Yes. But. The infamous Lavitz has gone on record stating that a second wave is coming.

Last deposit deadline is Friday. Some people have already decided to turn down Harvard's offer. As long as Harvard didn't overenroll in anticipation of that, there should be spots open.
I have no idea how many. Might only be a handful.

Any even if 20% of the accepted turn it down (likely way too high given the JS1bs), we're still talking about a very small amount of seats that will translate to a "trickle" on TLS and LSN. There's not going to be any wave on the same scale as we just saw. As for URMs, it's possible that they're comfortable with their URM numbers at this point and are now just focusing on maintaining their medians.

That's right! So, just to recap: by Friday, some people who were accepted will turn down HLS and seats will become available. So the idea is, HLS will want to fill those seats as quickly as possible, so we can bank on some JS2s soon--within a week or two.
That's how we know! Thanks Lav!

There could be alternative 2 reasons why there haven't been an URM / low #s wave:
- They're comfortable with what they have and are focusing on medians (Why would they do so many JS1s for URM / low #s applicants, if they were happy with what they had?)
- They want to secure the medians first, and do the URMs / low #s afterwards (makes sense since folks with lower #s are much more likely to matriculate and accept the offers even later in the summer, compared to superstars)
In other words, I'm feeling the wave (albeit smaller, than the initial).
