I think I've given up at this point. I kind of feel like if UVA wants me, they can come and get me, otherwise CYA. Waiting 5 months to hear about scholarships when you have the numbers and application worthy of one is beyond annoying.
ETA: I did call them a few days ago and didn't get a hilarious result like that, I just got the whole "Dean Richard isn't in she'll be back on Wednesday" spiel that they told me in various email correspondences.
but... today is Wednesday
maybe the admissions office fell into a time machine. and the machine has bad reception.

The mental image of someone on the phone making static noises with her mouth is just beautiful.

To say this has been handled poorly is an understatement.
Not asking you to get too descriptive, but what exactly do you mean when you say "competitive offer"? I.E. school ranked higher or lower/ scholly increase request or did you not have a scholly initially? If it was an increase request, was the bump significant?
Again, just whatever you feel comfortable divulging. I'm only asking because my initial guess is that they may be choosing to respond based on these factors.

I have an identical offer from a higher ranked school and haven't heard a thing (not even a mass e-mail). I have to make my decision by May 3rd so I hope they get back to me soon.

Spoke to Dean Richard. She said that currently there was no more money available for additional awards and that they're sending out new awards as money shakes loose (people withdrawing, etc.) She also said that currently they're trying to spread out awards to people who currently don't have any rather than increase people who are seeking additional awards.

Does the COL in NYC make a marginal difference in the COAs between schools?

I'm in-state at UVA, so that gives about a 15k discount in tuition. I ran the numbers through the Gtown calc and ended up with NYU costing 60k more (their third year scholarship is halved).

No real target, just Biglaw. NY or Chicago or maybe Philly or even DC. I know I probably want to do M&A, but beyond that...

I received a scholarship offer email today from Dean Richard, and I will be attending UVA this fall unless Chicago or NYU call me off the waitlist.

Nice! I want your GPA... I'd be all like "should I decline the Ruby for Yale?"
Sigh.

Side note for everyone still waiting: This shows how utterly ridiculous UVA Law Admissions people are. In the same day, Noodley was told there was no additional money available and someone gets a scholarship. What, did they have someone with a scholarship withdraw after Noodley's call and then immediately re-offer that scholarship? I think not

Tbf they said there was no more available for increases and they would be giving fresh schollys instead. At the same time I know the game.

Ah ok. Well I was waiting to get my initial scholarship and then they ignored my emails and brushed off my phone call (although I haven't tried since Dean Richard returned, but I pretty much gave up). Clearly they are ignoring some while being kind to others, and it has nothing to do with numbers as far as I can tell. Damn you UVA, just because I don't like softball?

Figured since I'd been lurking, I ought to provide some info for others. I got word about scholarship info yesterday--not enough to sway me from Ann Arbor, though, so it'll be going back into the pot.
