Take Two: that 176 is mighty sexy. How could Cornell resist?
Msblaw: just look at that 3.8. I mean, lookatit! Astonishing!
I'm telling you guys, Cornell is a mystery woman. Dark. Fleeting. Definitely Cold. She plays hard to get.
But those numbers... so irresistible!

09-10 forum tells me there's only a few? I don't know. I can't guarantee that I was thorough in reading all the posts, yet it seems like posts around April-May tend to report frustrating results (reject, WL, reserve-apparently a different one from WL) for deferred applicants.unitedfrutopia wrote:Are any deferred EA people ever actually admitted after February?
Some even commented that applying EA hurt their chances of getting in. Could be true, since there will be RD applicant who'll be reviewed and get accepted before our files are read only after Feb 1. Less seats=more competition.

Re: Cornell c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
The people who claim to have been deferred seem to have relatively high stats that are over Cornell's median (or around there). Maybe I'm wrong (and please correct me if I am) but maybe there's a higher chance of being rejected if we don't hear anything back at all. And if that is the case, I think I would rather like to hear that I've been deferred than not hear at all.......TemporarySaint wrote:Well. At least I've not been deferred. At least there's that, right?

Not necessarily. My lsat is at their median (i believe it's still 168, right?) and gpa is below 25% (way below, way down there).polkadots727 wrote:The people who claim to have been deferred seem to have relatively high stats that are over Cornell's median (or around there). Although I have some interesting softs, it's not like I saved the environment or gone to space exploration. So considering my case, other people I see in this forum with 168+ and 3.7+ seem to be just fine...

Deferred a couple hours ago; withdrew immediately. Dates were 11/3, 12/6, 12/13.
Good luck to everyone still waiting! And to those admitted, congratulations and enjoy Ithaca! My husband grew up in the area, and it's beautiful.

+1, I'm 170/3.3, so it's not as though being deferred/eventually waitlisted would be a surprise.sani8080 wrote: Not necessarily. My lsat is at their median (i believe it's still 168, right?) and gpa is below 25% (way below, way down there).

Deferred. LSAT at median GPA around 25th here. Ithaca is about a five hour drive from me. Do you think it would make an impression to show up in person in late January? Also, can all you people accepted at Michigan, NYU etc. please withdraw? I will love you forever.

Best of luck to everyone deferred! I'm confused as to why it happened...
Hoping for some RDs soon. I'm not sure how much more of this I can take

sani8080, I'm glad you're not so morose!
I flew across the country to visit them in September and it didn't seem to make a difference but it's definitely nice to see the campus and take a tour if you haven't done so already. There's an art museum on the main campus that I loved (the 6th floor provides an amazing view of Ithaca--it's more like the 10th or 12th floor because the elevator skips quite a few of them IIRC).
I would withdraw but I think Killingly and I are still holding out hope for a chance at $$ @ Cornell. :/unitedfrutopia wrote:Deferred. LSAT at median GPA around 25th here. Deferred. 169/3.84. There's definitely something interesting going on here...maybe they're trying hard to raise their 75ths? At any rate, I wrote a letter of continued interest for sure.

I know this has been talked about a lot over the past few pages, but what Cornell is doing is so confusing
. I really don't understand their strategy right now.
Also, what is with those of us that updated today and didn't get deferred?! Hopefully good news? I mean why would they update us and not defer us if they planned on deferring us...
Who knows though.
