Last year someone got in the day before ASW, so we could be waiting at any point up to April 18th or so, as ASW starts April 19th this year.admisionquestion wrote:So i understand we are expecting a wave sometime...hopefully...
but what is the latest possible date we could hear back by (setting aside w/l).

Are we sure they will hold to that? Their self-imposed deadline is April 30.Doorkeeper wrote:Last year someone got in the day before ASW, so we could be waiting at any point up to April 18th or so, as ASW starts April 19th this year.admisionquestion wrote:So i understand we are expecting a wave sometime...hopefully...

Well, the April 30th deadline is for decisions in general, isn't it? I'd think they'd prioritize any remaining admit decisions for, like, now.

They must be waiting for something, some deadline for other schools or the withdrawal of applicants. I don't understand why else they would be still undecided about applications that are 6 months old.

start of a new day
i do not think they are waiting for anything school deadline...the only schools they may be concerned about are Y H and maybe Columbia...all 3 have a deposit deadline of May 1st. I don't think they will wait that long.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
this is the best guess i have heard so far. i applied 9/15, and have not had a change to my status checker since then. as the days lead up i get more and more neurotic about checking it/trolling this forum. but the truth is i am surprised they haven't gotten back yet.yepyepyep wrote:They must be waiting for something, some deadline for other schools or the withdrawal of applicants. Seeing some rejections of January applicants popping up. Perhaps they're going through the later soft holds...that or they haven't even gotten to the soft hold pile yet.

I agree with yepyepyep. What else could account for the holdup? My guess is that, even though the deposit deadlines at Y, H, and C are May 1st, a lot of people will want to decide/deposit at other schools before that for various reasons (logistics, know they wouldn't choose Stanford even if they did get in, etc).sharktankdean wrote:start of a new day

My guess is that the hold up is because they are still deciding stuff. I dunno, could be wrong...

lol..the prob isn't what they are doing but why they are taking so long to do it..i would say YHS made a pact to torture us this cycle but that would just be me being silly.

Yea...although Harvard's late cycle could be explained by their staff changes, I have no idea why YS are being so late.sharktankdean wrote:mikeylikesit wrote:My guess is that the hold up is because they are still deciding stuff. I dunno, could be wrong...

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Thanks everyone!! Just got off the phone with my entire extended family lol. Haven't checked my status checker yet but will do that shortly...Dean Deal was suuuuuuper nice on the phone, apologized for it taking them so long to make decisions this year, gave me a lot of the ASW info over the phone realizing it was such short notice etc. etc. It just really sounded like they are bogged down over there, but making very thoughtful decisions, so don't give up hope - although not gonna lie, I TOTALLY had lol.
*Edit: my status checker still says application submitted for review, which in paranoid TLS fashion makes me slightly concerned that I may have hallucinated the whole conversation...but my phone confirms that I had 4 minute phone call with a Palo Alto phone number at 10:12 this morning so I'm still pretty certain that it actually happened
