Nope, I wrote the diversity statement essay.
I think that's still something. (did anyone else do the art/literature one?)
I wrote the art/literature essay. I had a great topic for it, and I figured that so few people would choose that option that it might make my app stand out (hopefully in a good way).
We'll find out...
Yeah, I would guess (with no real basis) that a well written and interesting literature essay would be better than a cookie cutter Penn 5 year plan.
Edit for page topper: Good luck this week everyone!

1/23 UCR
I think this is my first update, but I haven't checked it since mid last week so it might be my second.
Hopefully some good news comes our way in the next few days.
Good luck everyone!

Under Committee Review today. Complete on 1/6. How long on average have people been waiting so far?

It seems like it varies, but people who applied early Nov have been hearing back the last couple of weeks -- not sure if later than that has heard.
I've been UR twice and was complete 11/08 with no decision yet so who knows! Hopefully the wait isn't too long for us but I was overly optimistic and hoped to hear before 2012...

I've been complete since 12/21 and still not under review. Should I consider contacting admissions if I don't go under review this week?

I was complete 12/15 and just went UCR for the first time on Friday.. I think you should give it a little more time! Penn just seems to be super slow.

I wrote it also for the same reason.

+1. I'm trying to figure out whether they really just hate me that much, or if it's because some random reason.

So is it a consensus that you need two UR dates before a decision is made?

Financial Aid question: Penn says it will consider all applicants for merit, but you have to turn in Need Access to be considered for need-based aid. Consensus seems to be need-based aid is pretty rare, and I doubt I qualify. So I should be good just standing pat and waiting?

It's easy to fill out and you don't have to until March. I'm also not sure how much it affects access to federal loans.

just got confirmation of my request to remain on the WL. Since they don't revisit the WL until like May, should I wait a couple months to submit an additional essay?

I'm been complete since 12/8 and no UR. Should I:
a) wait patiently
b) call Penn
or c) FREAK OUT

I'd say wait a little longer. It took me 6+ weeks to go UR once. Maybe another week or so?

I was complete late Oct/Early Nov and just went UCR review a couple of weeks ago.
