you're supposed to receive a decision within 8 weeks of your complete date, but many people have had to wait longer. good luck.Black Tiger wrote:hey

fjsms wrote:Northwestern instructs that the CPE be completed by "someone who can evaluate your professional work-related performance (current or former supervisor, clients or coworker)." I would not have been able to ask my supervisor either, for the reasons you gave, so I chose a peer from another area of my organization who I knew I could trust and who would be able to write a thorough, candid evaluation of my work and career progress. She shared what she wrote with me and it was great - lots of specific examples, good insight into my strengths and weaknesses. I am sure that what she wrote was much more helpful than what my supervisor would have written. I'd encourage you to think outside the box a little bit about someone other than your supervisor who could thoughtfully complete this.antonin wrote: I am also not happy with the CPE. I have two years of WE, and provided two letters of recommendation from academic professors. Now that I am on hold, I feel the need to add a CPE. Asking my original LOR writers seems misplaced since they are asking for Career/work related insight, not academic.
Asking my supervisor is also risky though: there is opportunity for growth within the company, and I am considering a deferral or staying there if I am not accepted to a school that I will be comfortable with. Asking them for a CPE now, I have a feeling will put the alternative of acquiring a better position in the company at hold.
Yeah, thanks for providing me with your advice. About 25-30 people all together work at the office though, and my direct supervisor happens to be administration/finance head. IF i went to someone else, I think it will be even worse. Oh well... I understand NU approach, but I think for many jobs it can make things awkward.
The other thing about it is that I can imagine them thinking negatively of the fact that I am providing no CPE though employed for some time. Maybe they think that I am not doing too well at working place, when ironically it is because I am doing well that I cannot ask for CPE.

Mine took almost exactly 8 weeks. Applied 1/18. Admitted 3/12.

I'll submit a LOCI and one essay, and both my bosses said they'd fill out a CPE for me. Chances they'll call me the Jesus Christ of workers is about 100%.bk187 wrote:Same. Well I'm doing the social networking and TV character essays. I'm trying to do the perfect day one but it seems like absolute bullshit, might end up scrapping it altogether. I'll submit them attached to an email and use the email body as a LOCI.Hannibal wrote:I'll submit a LOCI and one essay, and both my bosses said they'd fill out a CPE for me. I already flew out to interview and had 2 CPE's turned in right after I got put on hold. I think they were good, but probably not as good as yours sound.

I'm also considering sending grovel tweets to Johann.

Can it be April yet so that held applicants can get decisions waitlists and get on with their lives stop secretly believing they have a chance at going to NU?

NU admissions twitter cracks me up. It's almost as if they enjoy sending applicants into fits of nervousness/anxiety/excitement.
Personally, I kinda enjoyed it before I got my decision.

Johann, if fully unleashed on twitter (and not semi self-censoring), would be a master of snark. Totally love the posts because he knows exactly what he's doing.jrose5 wrote:NU admissions twitter cracks me up. In via email! 170/3.6, 3 years work experience. I applied early Feb, but didn't have my interview until the end of Feb, so I was technically "complete" as of 3/10.
