on LSN, some people who applied EA were given dean's scholarships at the beginning of March. Someone apparently already was offered a full ride this year?Arbiter213 wrote:Anyone know when Cornell makes $$ decisions?

+1 about the frustration...but still enough love for Cornell to tolerate Ithaca!sarahlawg wrote:Ithaca's not bad to live in, I swearGotti wrote:haha so frustrated with Cornell....I don't even want to live in Ithaca anywayBela wrote:11/30 -> 1/28 -> 2/3 (Complete)Gotti wrote:finally complete 2/3. We're twins! (edited because I didn't read the finally complete..)Collegetown is actually pretty sweet, and the weather in Ithaca isn't nearly as bad as the nearby towns (Syracuse, Buffalo, etc). Besides, the law school is right down the road from a delicious bagel place.

I have various school's weather pages on my phone, and everytime I see Ithaca, I shudder. I think it was like a 70 degree day in LA and Ithaca was 1 degree. Like a single degree. I'm definitely not built for that type of cold.

I'm from Alaska. I got waitlisted to Cornell but in at ASU. I shudder at 70 degrees because I prefer the cold. Maybe if you get into Cornell we can convince the two schools to swap?

haha you're right. The windchill/cold is brutal. The snow's not as bad though.RJ127 wrote:I have various school's weather pages on my phone, and everytime I see Ithaca, I shudder. This year has been particularly bad around the country for snow, though, so I am very happy to be living in Phoenix this year.

Haha, don't get me wrong, I'll definitely have no problem going to Cornell but that weather man is killer. Alaska, from what I hear, is very aesthetically pleasing which helps justify the cold. Also I like the idea of like 20+ hour sunlight/darkness in certain regions. Don't know what Cornell offers up visually, I'll have to check out what surrounds the school but google maps makes it look like Cornell is in the middle of a forest.JonSanchez2009 wrote:RJ127 wrote:I have various school's weather pages on my phone, and everytime I see Ithaca, I shudder. Was in Pheonix for a few days in July. Was extremely hot, but a very nice area. Not sure what kids do for fun out there...seems like a very slow suburbia. I did visit the ASU campus though and there seemed to be about 50 bars surrounding the school.sarahlawg wrote:haha you're right. The windchill/cold is brutal. hahaha you got beef with forest? the surroundings of course are beautiful. Totally not trolling for Cornell, though. Hills, lakes, trees, waterfalls, and Cornell's beautiful architecture.RJ127 wrote: Haha, don't get me wrong, I'll definitely have no problem going to Cornell but that weather man is killer. Phoenix is awful, imo. The downtown is pathetic. Many terrible neighborhoods. Some cool stuff, but I am anxious to get back to the east. Down right cold here right now though, was in the 20s when I went to work this morning =(RJ127 wrote:Was in Pheonix for a few days in July. Was extremely hot, but a very nice area. Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
lol! No, they absolutely do not compare. There are so many things about NYC that are right and good, but I still can't see myself living in such a big city. Good thing I was held at Columbia, and NYU is ignoring me!maglialoro wrote:

So acceptances are by email, how are denials and waitlists handled?

Well other schools do it ( acceptances by email and rejections and waitlists by snail mail)!

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
So I found myself agreeing after reading everyone's frustration with Cornell's ridiculous waiting period...but then it came to me! They didn't mean SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS...they meant SIXTY-EIGHT WEEKS! It all makes sense now. Simple typographical error. Carry on, Cornell.
