I was under review since November 11th...I was pretty sure my fate was sealed when I didn't get a CR letter with everyone...
On the plus side I was accepted to hastings today
. It came in a small envelope, so I almost thought I was getting double dinged in one day which would have been awful since I only applied to two schools!

+1 - can someone explain this whole CR thing?GoldenGopherHopeful wrote:Is anyone going to be admitted via administrative review from this point on? Or is anyone who hasn't been dinged/WL going to have to go through Committee Review (either first or second round)?

Congrats on UC Hastings! I'm 165/4.0 but only UR since 1/10. I'll hold on to hope until the end.lisavj wrote:I was under review since November 11th...I was pretty sure my fate was sealed when I didn't get a CR letter with everyone...

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
I have read Dean Tom's interview and a number of ancillary sources for this... And this is what I take from it all:
Dean Tom reads the apps. He stamps his Dean Tom Stamp of Admission onto apps that "the committee would most likely admit if they were referred to CR." Then, he also dings apps that "would not stand a likely chance of being admitted if referred to CR."
Everyone else goes through committee review - 6 faculty and 12 students. (Unless you checked the box that you don't want a student looking your file over).
It sounds very much like administrative review admissions and dings are over from his interview but who knows. I'm operating on that assumption though because of the verbiage contained in his interview and it doesn't get much more succinct than that.

There was an answer a few pages back in this same thread. Last year, there was a second round of CR emails. The emails were received by people with different UR dates (before and after the first CR email date). There may be a chance your CR email will come in that second round. However, we haven't hit the massive wave of dings yet. So there is also a chance your rejection letter is waiting to be sent.GoldenGopherHopeful wrote:GoldenGopherHopeful wrote:Is anyone going to be admitted via administrative review from this point on? I'm in the same boat. It's a pretty shitty boat, IMO.

Sort of unfortunate phrasing considering the current situation in Egypt...giddybiscuit wrote:It looks like the day of blood in the streets is here. 0_0;;; a big string of dings over on LSN...

I saw that post, but it didn't/doesn't really answer my question. I'm asking if CR is the only possible way to be admitted from this point on.
And I agree about the boat.

To be fair, I wasn't aware either until today and I follow news via WSJ / random facebook links and it just hit today.

Well, it looks like I've survived today's dings so far. Still UR 10/17 though. Hanging on by a thread.

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
I was admitted on the 19th and still haven't received my login email, so I think it could take a while. I'll probably call them mid-week if I still haven't heard anything (mostly just because I want to get finalized info about ASW). I would give yours a few more days...WonkyPanda wrote:I still haven't received my info for the student login and I was accepted on monday. Should I give them a call on monday?

So, do we have any idea what might happen to those of us not under committee review and also not rejected this past Friday? Did this happen last year?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
